Thursday evening we arrived at our winter home. Gettng into our site is a little touchy as we have a large tree on the left side of the site. We had lots of help backing into the site from the gentleman who is parked next door, although Karen was standing there doing a fine job.

I can back into the site without a problem, but getting level puts us very close to the tree. Needless to say the neighbor wasn't looking at the tree and had Karen go to the back of the site where she couldn't see the tree either. See where this is going? Yep, when he had me pull up, I hit the tree. I have several scrapes along the upper left corner, and the rubber roof has several dings. There are no holes in the roof, but there are about six severely rubbed areas that will eventually develop into holes unless I get the roof fixed.

Is there a product I can use to at least temporarily patch the roof until I head back north in the spring? Thanks

Sorry about your OOOPS...at least no serious damage or injuries. My Dicor information that came with the rig says it can be patched similarly to the way you would patch an inner tube. Then it says to call your dealer for Dicor for additional information.

We carry a role of roofing patch that I got from Campers World for such damages. Its in the catalog. know how you feel. my first 5'r a Terry, mated with a dipsy dumpster that jumped out at me. Eight inch hole in the side. Couldn't tell it after the bodyman got done with it. Sorry it happened.

I saw a product at Camping World last weekend as stated. Might be the eternabond, but I can't remember. They sell chainsaws down the street at Ace Hardware too.

On my previous RV, I missed the roof, but cut the awning all the way down the side. No patch for that other than a checkbook for a new fabric.

I agree about the Eternabond tape. Camping World. Or your RV dealer will have it, too. It's not cheap but it's really good.

No...No...don't go in there...

Unfortunately, trees do jump out from time to time, I hate to admit it, but I think it's gotten most of us.
That eternabond could very well save some serious damage to your rig. Don't leave home without it.

Just had similar experience. Got into some trees. End up with a few holes in my roof and scratched the side of my rig. I purchased a roof repair kit from Dicor at Camping World. So I have that covered. Any suggestions on what to use to remove the scratches on my sidewall. Some are serious and polish will not take them out.

Wife and walkie-talkie are the best things for backing in. Outside help usually ends up with something like this. I only listen and watch my wife no matter who is helping. It works quite well.

You might ask the operators of any park you're staying at if they can recommend a good body works person. We were lucky enough to have a fellow come through one of the parks we were in. He was a great body worker. Places he worked on you could not even see! Looked as good as new! He was really prepared. Even had a book of pictures showing some of his work. He was also very reasonable. Sometimes you get lucky. Of course I was unlucky in the first place to even need his services!

Put a coat of wax on the bo-bos. That will protect the fiberglass from getting water in. I would then take it to a person that repairs fiberglass and have them repair it. I think that the best way. Hard to beat a man at his own trade. keep us informed.

Sorry to hear about your mishap. Check with any of the local boat shops in the area, many of them have fiberglass guys that either work for the shop or they sub out to. Some boat shops also have mobile fiberglass service if the damage is not too bad. Just an idea...
