McD shades

Getting ready to order the Impulse MCD shades for our unit. Has anyone on the moc installed these yourself in your montana? Or did you have MCD do the work? Trying to find out about any install issues before I spend the large dollars on them. Sick and tired of broken strings on the factory installed shades, tired of the really dark valence keystone used. Time for good shades from a quality company. You can email at jcurtis934@aol.com instead of to this tread if you wish.

From my experience the installation portion of the shades total was miniscule to the point that it made no sense not to have them installed. Already at the factory for measurements and manufacturing. The installation took all of an hour for the four accordian shades I had replaced.

I had MCD do the install as part of the measurement and manufacturing. It helped justify a trip to McKinney TX and chasing excellent BBQ (Hutchin's BBQ in McKinney being one of them)

I see they now have replacement valances. They didn't when I was there. I modified mine after the install to hide the blackout out shade.

If we could make it out to McKinney, we would trust them to replace all of our shades. We will replace all eight of the shades with their Impulse line that has the built-in valence. We did talk with them and found out that the impulse line does not use the clip system of the solo or duo shades. They have removable end caps that cover two screws per side. I trust their engineering that this will hold up even the large 76 inch wide rear shade. These new shades are just part of our interior upgrades, which will include painting all of the walls with low voc paint in a very light shade to lighten up the dark cave. Thanks for your reply!! John

Obviously they have changed their product line since my last visit. But mine are holding up just fine, including the monster across the back. The DW will want a better reason for me to go other than a BBQ experience.

Thanks Carl n Susan for the barbecue reccomendation. Dang it, now I have Texas barbeque on the brain. Their Impulse line seems to be a great way to ditch the heavy, dark valence used in our montana, which have always seemed to me to belong more in the brocade era than the 21st century. Our last trip west on interstate 40 found a great little cafe called the green chili cafe on the western edge of Oklahoma city. Hatch green chili apple pie was one of their deserts that we couldn't pass up. John

Carl, Carl! A BBQ experience? Possibly THE BBQ experience? In Texas no less? I know there are lots of BBQ styles across the country (and I give them all their due) but a trip for good "Que" shouldn't be passed up! And, if it's still there, a good option might would be the Trail Dust Steakhouse over in Denton. You could kill two (or 3) birds in one shot!

We also had the factory install them and helped the installer do it. Got some spare parts and the knowledge to fix something if it went wrong. It never did.

Our rear window has also held up great as well. We have the older and the newer duo shades. The newer ones have to be I clipped and removed to adjust the spring tension. I prefer the older style that allow adjustment in place.

Btw no excuses needed here to make a BBQ run.

The shades are not the easiest to install and you need to make sure you anchor them well with the bouncing the Monte does going down the glorious highways here across the nation. We don't have the MCD's but do have the Irvine Shades in our unit and had them installed while down in AZ. We have had several problems with them but it was because they were not installed with long enough screws in the first place. MCD, from what I've heard from friends who have had them installed in Texas, does an excellent job of measurement and installation. If I had it to do over again, I'd be heading for Texas and MCD.

BBQ- the best ribs in the country come from Florida! A place no more than 25X45 (restroom in a separate bldg 20 yards away) called BFE for Best Food Ever. It’s hidden under an over pass outside of Panama City Beach.
While there once 4 black men came for their takeout ribs. They drove down from Atlanta! Not their 1st or last trip they said. Our trip to MS was delayed a day as we stopped overnight so I could get a rack. Make sure you preorder or they may be gone even at the open time!

Do you remember what highway? We go to Panama City quite often but haven't seen the place. Sounds great. I had given up hope that there was any kind of good smoked anything if FL...

That's the place! Even the brisket is very good. Call ahead and make sure anything is available. They got to know me and I'd call and ask to hold a rack or even a half IF there was any!
I found BFE by accident. While in Panama City Beach found an ad for Boondocks and thought I'd try there. Thankfully they were closed. Saw BFE and it is the only place I'll go out of my way for food. I've gone a long way out of the way and even stayed in the area overnight to go there. All the sides are made in house too!
