I now have a bubble on the side of one of my tires. It is what every tire man I have ever talked to describes as a "busted cord" in the tire. I am going to call and ask them about this tomorrow. I am starting to wonder if the tires are why the kitchen keeps bouncing around in my unit so much.

Jimcol,

Thanks for your reply about the Milestar tires. I will be really happy if we can get 19K out of a set of RV tires. We are very careful about tire pressure and watching for wear.

We have had two blow outs on another trailer. None of that is any fun and does some awful things to the siding on the RV. I would just as soon not experience that again.

Hi - Just curious. Do you mean Michelin tires? We had a tire problem on the first trip out and had to buy a new one but it wasn't that tire - at least I don't think so. Let me know!

Ok tire experts...what does this mean? I have two indentions on the side of one of my tires. Here is a picture. Note the tire DOT number & date are all in the picture. And yes I know my tire is dirty...just got home from a trip.

I hope that is normal OK guy, cause I have them on the Monty, on the truck, and even the new Michelins I put on the DWs car.

I agree, I have had these on many long-lasting tires.

Same here, although I have wondered what they are and why they are there.

The tire guy told me it is from the cord in the side busting. I am no tire guru but I don't like to take chances. I called Tireco Warranty Department this morning. The lady was extremely friendly. While I was getting her the batch number/codes and what nots I noticed something else wrong on the sidewall. Everyone needs to inspect their tired where they meet the rims. From the rim to about 1 inch up on the sidewall I have really really small cracks traveling circular on the tire. You may be able to see them in the above picture. When I noticed that she told me to inspect all of the tires and sure enough cracks all around. All are from the same batch. She is sending me 5 new tires to replace these. The phone call only took 5 minutes and I am mission headache free. Of course I have to pay to have them switched but I have no problem doing so if it makes my rig safe.

If you wonder what a blow out can do to a rig and the slide take a look at this link. Look at he drivers side where the tire blew out.

Good luck to everyone going through the tire fiasco. I will let you know the brand they send me.

I think every radial tire has that indentation on them. Like John said, it is the seam of the tire. The tire's on my truck and my wife's car have the same thing.

Phil, what are those "date stamp" numbers? "2106"? Mine were 1406 and 1506. The lady you talked to was probably the same one I talked to also. Very pleasant to deal with. She told me to inspect the tires closely for cracks. I was unsure what she was talking about, but with your post/photo, I will be out on my hands and knees tomorrow AM to look very closely.

Thanks for your post!

Dave,

My date stamp was 2406(24th week of 2006). The cracks were very small and I had no idea until I looked really close they were there. If she hadn't asked me to look close I never would have noticed them. I honestly thought this was getting out of hand until I got down there and noticed the cracks.
I purchased my trailer on November 30th of 2007. I pulled it back to Oklahoma and I have taken it on one lake trip. I have pulled it to the farm where it is parked and no where else. I probably only have 2000 miles total on these tires.
I will say this for the Tireco people. Very polite, courteous(sp) and fast. I was only on the phone for about 5 minutes and everything was taken care of. I didn't question the quickness of the call or ask about other people having problems with the tires because she agreed to send me 5 new tires.

I wonder if the date stamp has anything to do with the ease of getting replacement service?? Perhaps they know when the majority of the failing tires were manufactured. My stamp is also 2406, Phil, which led me to this thought.

I was going to revive this thread earlier today; search function wouldn't find it. New thread "Tireco". I have received a PDF containing a claim form that must be returned. I suspect they are getting harder to deal with. I will fill out the form and send it back by certified mail. Seems they might only want to take care of the tire that blew. If that is the case, I will ship it to NHSTA if they will inspect it. Reimbursement on one tire is not worth the time and effort. Has anyone filed a complaint with NHSTA?

Well Ozz I got pd from tirce the $500.00 pluse dollars and am glad to be out of them ,, i bought B.F.Googrich Commerical and am so happy that when we traded for the new unit in july and had 3000 miles on them i said we are going to switch tires or no deal... so hillside changed all 5 tires even though the new unit had goodyear on , we also got new valve stems and balanced them ,, then we exchanged the matress for ours own , the easy chairs, the dinette concrete chairs so what furn came with it . the table , which is junk and the couch so the new tires cost me about 450.00 but was well worth them , i can look at them now and not be afraid to pull anyplace ,,, sailer

OZZ And Slickwillie

The check took maybe 3 months or more to get after i sent the tires , in fact they told me twice 20- to 30 days apsrt the check is in the mail,, i heard that so many times in my life i laughed at them , but am glad i got the check,, i never figured i would get a thing , i thought it was a farce,, so my new tires only cost me 400.00 or so but well worth them as they are now on my 10th ann y model #3465sa and am happy i did it ,, it cost but piece of mind , sailer

Good to know at least someone got money out of them. I printed the claim form, filled it out, and will send it certified by USPS. I am not saying I will pursue it in court, but I want to have my ducks in a row just in case. I don't think it would be eligible for small claims court here in TX with their sales outlet being in California.

BTW, I searched NHTSA today, and from what I found, there have only been 10 complaints filed on the Mission tires. I don't think they will ever do any thing with so few complaints.
