Any Nice Campgrounds along I-77?
Does anyone know of a good campground along I-77? Would like to find a nice campground along I-77 for a one-night stay. We will be leaving Gettysburg on Sunday heading home. Plan on traveling Routs 30 to 70W then taking route I-77S to Charleston, WVA.

Bill,
Are you going I-79 from Morgantown or down I-81 to I-77 then across. If you are going down I-81, there is the campground for the Va rally just past Staunton. If you are going down I-79 you may want to check out Stonewall Jackson near Weston. I have never stayed at Stonewall Jackson but it is on our list for future visits. I believe it will be about your half-way point also if you are going that way. You may want to check out Woodalls.com for some more ideas.
Bingo
On edit: Both of these have web-sites.

No Problem Bingo, no apologies needed!
I'm going that way to try and avoid all of the ups & downs of the mountains. I'm pretty certain that I-77 is mostly flat in comparison.
Oh, tell Sue I said hi!

I am thinking you should take I 70 to Washington Pa and Pick up I 79 South.
Morgantown,Fairmont etc. will take you to Charleston.

KDiess,
Bill is the adventuresome type, he is taking the looooooonnnnnggggg way home. Hmmmm, wasn't that a song from the 70's-80's???
Bingo
On edit: Don't know for sure but I got a hunch that that gas sucking monstrosity under the hood of his TV probably gets about 4-5 mpg pulling uphill on some of the WV mountains. (This post is not belittling gas-powered TV's), particularly since with the price of diesel, they might just be cheaper to operate in the short term due to the cheaper gas prices!!

I am going to tell you that two years ago, I was heading south and could not find a state park that would handle the montana. Was convinced that we would be in a parking lot at wal mart. Out of the blue, Sutton WV, exit is Flatwoods, there is a good sam park there owned by the Days Inn. 27 a night with fhu (no cable) and an amphitheater where concerts are held during the summer (just missed Josh Turner two years ago, as he was starting out).
Left my camper there two weeks, as I blew the engine the next day on a diesel(valve shredded). But anyway, nice sites, paved roads, gravel pullthroughs, not a destination of itself, but definitely nice overnighter. I still keep it on my GPS. also, have the amenities of the hotel are part of the campfee.

Man, you guys are scaring me (V-10). We are headed from Texas to Vermont & NH to see "the colors" and then back down the eastern seaboard through Charleston and Savannah. We'll be ditching the TT and staying at a timeshare in the Shenandoah Valley for a week. Our daughter and her friend are flying into Washington D.C. and we'll rent a van for sightseeing, etc. $$$$$$$$$$$ !!!!!
