Travel & Coronavirus

We are planning to leave NC Thursday for a two week trip to Florida. First stop 3 days in St Augustine at the Stagecoach RV park and then going to Fisherman's Cove RV park in Palmetto, south of Tampa. Our plans are to spend a good bit of time fishing off of the Skyway pier. No plans to visit any major sites but are interested if anyone has any information on restaurant, stores, malls, etc closings in these areas. Has anyone noticed or had issues at the campgrounds? Also curious if anyone has notice any issues in buying gas or diesel, and any shortages along the way. We know that we are all going to get through this but we are really interested in working together so we can come out victorious. Thanks for any input, Jerome & Judy

We are in Maderia Beach/St Petersburg, snowbird. A few have decided to leave. Many Canadians in the park are leaving as many have to be back by 23 March or lose medical coverage. Not many closures to date. Word in the park is if the park is closed, that will mean nobody has to leave but no new arrivals. Expect closures to happen here. I think everything will depend on what happens over the next weeks, but looks like business as usual around here at this time. Smart bet my opinion if you have any concerns re age/preexisting conditions, cancel. Likely to get worse before it gets better.

Changing daily. Started out with no large gatherings. Now stores are starting to close, some restaurants are starting to close or limit number in at any time, some are going to take out only. Don't think there is any way of knowing what is in the near future.

The only sure bet is that things will close and it will be really fast as infection rates increase in a particular area. It's the right thing to do, but leaves those of us who full time or are just traveling with a scheduling and planning problem. We're in a good spot for us, so even though we had travel plans we canceled them for at least a few weeks.

I've got to go back down to Florida and pick up my box trailer and golf cart. I wouldn't have to but I changed lots when I left and it's effective april 1 so it won't be on my lot anymore on that date. I can't even play golf at home right now because my golf clubs are strapped to my golf cart inside the box trailer.

I hope I don't have to sneak out of Illinois.

We are leaving Florida to go home on Wednesday. We feel ths is the safest way to travel. We can prepare our own meals, sleep in our own bed, and we don't even have to use public restrooms!

I'm sure the fuel stations will stay open. Thousands of snowbirds are heading north this week. We have reservations at several campgrounds on the way home.

Change One. Effective this morning all park activities terminated until further notice. Swimming pool and both hot tubs closed. Outside the parks, gyms, bars, restaurants, shutting down. Beaches still open. Walmart shutting down 24 hour operation. Publix and other grocery stores are reducing hours of operation, although shelves are full to include paper products. I would now say, reschedule your trip if possible.

Our southerly RVing is on hold and a tentative trip cancelled. It will hit FL soon enough and places will begin to close. We have three confirmed cases in our county in NY State but that has been enough to literally close just about anything where crowds can congregate such as schools, colleges, restaurants, churches, theaters etc.

We are pretty much 'hunkered' down for the duration. I'm doing inside 'honey do's' until the weather gets a little better then will do my own 'do's' outside which include yard, 5er and truck maintenance.

(I wonder what impact this enforced home stay will have on the December/January birth rate)

Packing the trailer now, leaving Thursday for the coast. I would rather hang out where I like than the house anyway. Not really concerned about covid but the way it works out we'll have less contact with folks camping than at home.

Just use common sense and call ahead.

Shortages are really in the grocery store...mostly the paper products. Make sure you have TP.....

I don't see a difference in staying home where there are shutdowns or traveling where there are shutdowns!!??!!?? I plan on traveling this summer. (and for 5 days next week)

While we love our travels and out planned trip to the east coast this year, I don't want to be "shelter in place" quarantined in lower podunk and not be able to go home. I also don't want to contract the covid19 virus and have the DW deal with the ramifications. Staying home for now or further notice. This is serious.

Strongly agree! This is serious. Stay home if you can. If you full time and must move, you risk not being able to get into anywhere. Possible state parks will close here in Florida very soon. If they do, all must leave. Private parks are a different story, but they will likely follow state guidelines.

don't no how any of you in the US right now would even think of travelling. We have been shut done up here for a week now. Nothing open but grocery stores and gas station. Unless you can get to a place and be by your self. Its only going to get worse there even talking about border closing this weekend to all travel other then goods and service. That's travellers getting trap south of the border. I have a 8 year old grandson that his mother was determend to take him to florida with 5 other groups. Now they may not get home.

We made it to our destination. Got the best site in the park. About 20% full. It is very nice doing what we do anyway except eating out. Looking forward to the next stop which has an ocean view.

Things will get worse before they get better. Utah is supposed to have limited motels and campgrounds to only accepting new guests who are essential to the community.
