Hot-Cold Sandwich

Has anyone figured out the hot/cold sandwich with the ankles hot water heaters? I did read that someone installed a valve to completely cut the water off but not sure if that would work. Has anyone figured it out or are we just living with it..?

I haven’t tried this yet, but I think the problem is the check valve on the water heater. When water is flowing while showering, enough water is coming out of the water heater to keep the check valve open. When you turn of the water at the shower head, there is only a trickle coming out so the water heater check valve closes. Once you turn it on again, all the only cold water has to clear the hose until the hot water has again mixed with the cold. We never winterize, as we full time, so if our check valve causes an issue I will remove it. The valve that was discussed was installed where the flex hose attaches to the faucet, and it does not allow water to trickle out, so both hot and cold water is completely turned off.

Which route do you think is best.? I have no idea where the check valve is on the tankless, seems like a better option to completely turn off the water so at least the hot water is trapped in the line also. There is an article in trailer life magazine about the valve which is why I thought I would ask..

That is the valve we use to turn off the water completely while having a shower. However I have attached it at the shower head for ease of use. Works like a charm.

I also read that article. I also have no idea why they insist on use a valve that trickles the water instead of just a full on or off valve. Maybe they think we need a shot of cold water in the morning to wake us up.

I ordered the valve from amazon 8.90 and 2 day delivery I’ll give it a shot !!
