Hide-A-Bed Mattress
Would like a better mattress for the hide-a-bed. Has anyone upgraded theirs and if so where did you find one and how expensive are they???

We do not use it that much so we bought a memory foam topper for it at Costco (about $100). We use the topper on our RV bed unless we have an adult using the hide-a-bed, then we add it with the other one and it seems to be comfortable. This is only maybe 4-5 nights a year, so it works well for us. The grandkids are fine on the other mattress without the topper.

We purchased one from the local mattress store if I remember about $200.00. Big improvment I would reccomend It is a standard Queen size for Hide A Bed nothing special. I put the original at the curb.

You don't want to make the guest bed too comfortable. It reminds me of a signature from another forum, "When my kids asked why our new motorhome slept only 4 I replied, that's because we couldn't find one that slept 2"

We also went with a foam topper. Our teenage granddaughters said it made a large difference.

Can you fold up the hide-a-bed with a foam topper still on it, or do you have to remove it each time?

We carry an inflateable mattress (has Its own electric pump) for putting on top of the hide-a-bed mattres. We already had the mattress for emergency situations in the stick house. It packs into a duffle bag about 10" in diameter and 15" long. We store in cramed in the corner behind the couch.

The foam topper does not fold up into the sofa bed. It is a small inconvenience to put it on the other bed until it is needed the next night. We also have a queen air mattress we carry but have not yet tried it with the sofa bed, as we were concerned about length. The foam topper can be positioned better for length.

The higher quality replacement mattress does fold no inconvenience. If you use the sofa bed and plan on keeping your unit I recommend replacing the mattess.
