We seem to forget at times, it isn't just about how fast we can get our rigs going, it's also about how fast we can get them stopped when we have to. I made the decision to pull with a SRW 2500 and because of that I don't push the speed.

Dick - AMEN! It is not about the amount of fuel used, it is about being safe. The equipment is not designed for the abuse of driving those speeds. My Truck can easily and safely tow the trailer and any posted speed limit but spending all my free time fixing the damage caused by the excessive speed is not worth it. My safety is not worth it.
I still work for a living and have over 20 years until I can can apply for retirement. So 250 mile days are not in the cards for me now, but I do want to survive long enough to be able to plan trips around 250 mile days. In a 12 hour day I can still safely pull 600 miles a day.

That Goodyear website also says the G614's are retreadable. Anyone ever buy a retread or have it done to one?

Thanks for all of the good advice, but I don't see how driving with the flow of traffic on an open interstate is any more dangerous than creating a traffic hazard by driving too slow, and as for my camper I have had no problems, no blowouts nothing.
I knew when I posted that it would cause quite a stir. I do respect your opinion I just don't agree, and I certainly do not mean to be disrespectful to anybody.

I live in Arizona and last year returning from northern AZ I was passed by a toy hauler going I guess 75mph. When I got down into the flat ground, temp 105+ I saw him at the side of the road and tire pieces all over the road. We just came back again from northern AZ and was passed by a fifth wheel going I'm guessing 75+ again. Well you can probably guess what we saw after reaching the flat ground again. Tire pieces on the road and the fifth wheel pulled over looking at his damage. The temp yesterday was only 88. They should be happy they didn't blow their tires coming down the the winding road.

I have a good plan for 5th wheel hauling .... let's ALL stick to the speed limit. Gee, what a concept!

Ron, That would be great, EXCEPT, the speed limit in AZ is 75MPH. No thanks. Then in CALIF, it's 55mph with a trailer. Go figure.....

Even in Kansas the speed limit on interstates is 75.
