www.bearbeds.com We purchased the Americana Bear bed without the optional memory foam topper .Figured we
would try it and see if we needed one. Spent the last two nights out in the camper testing the bed.Best nights sleep we have had in a long time. I am getting ready for a charter this AM and Helen is still out there. (the bear bed is a competitor of the Sleep number bed and except for the "numbers" on the control is pretty much the same and a lot less $. We see one for the house also.

Let us know how you like that 4", Mac. Do you have a mattress pad on top of it to keep you cool?

OK As promised..here is the update on our memory foam topper. We purchased the 4 inch topper (king size) from Overstock.com and put it on the bed last week. I am a definate believer now. I still wake up a little stiff in the back but no spasms and I slept on it for 4 nights. I am a little embarassed though. I decided to "unroll" the mattress at home so it would air out and fluff up. It is quite difficult to transport it that way and it tears easily. Oh well, I guess you live and learn but my face is certainly red. Thanks for all the advice...it sure proved to be good advice and my back thanks you all. Kathy

Glad to hear it Kathy! I take it you did use a mattress cover, then?

Kathy, did you order it a size up? I notice some saying that they were ordering a size up to fit properly. We are thinking about ordering one.

We have a king size mattress in our 3400 and used an electric knife, per suggestion on this forum, to trim it down to size...rounding off the corners and trimmed the side to fit the mattress. The electric knife worked wonderfully. And no we did not use a mattess cover but I think I will also use that suggestion. We do have 2 sheets on top of it though and so far I have not found it to be too warm.

We loved our 4" topper after sleeping on it for eight nights, in fact I think I like it better now than my sleep number bed at home. And yes we did add a mattress pad as well. I highly recommend it.
