Hola from Mexico!!!

Well we did it! After leaving Quartzsite,we headed south, spent a day preping (read hiding our booze) then at Ajo bought Mex. ins. then on to the border where we were boarded for a quick look and asked "any guns?" with a "no" he sent us on our way.The highway to Rocky Point is excellent with few rigs .It's only about 65 miles in and we got a fantastic spot parallel on the beach (50 ft. from the water) There is no crime. no kidnapping ,and lots of HUGE shrimp!!! We will be going next door to the Reef tonight for their Rack of lamb, but we do expect things to get better Adios...........Dave & Kelly

Hola Dave and Kelly,

I certainly hope things get better soon! Sounds like you need a lot of help down there.

Have fun and wish we were down there with you folks. Watch that water line!

We spent three days at the Reef last week-end and it was wonderful parking RIGHT ON THE BEACH!!!!!! For $5.oo a night - not bad. Enjoy!! Be sure to have the breakfast buffet at the Reef.

Hey stop at Organ Pipe on your way back - let us know and we'll save you a spot.

Dick and Toni stayed a view days with us this week and we had a wonderful visit.

Dave, saving a few pennies on your electric bill with those LED lights sure has its benefits, doesn't it?

While you're there, maybe you should scout out the place as a possible progressive for nest year, but the way it sounds, we might just stop there and not come back.

Despite the allure of all the fresh shrimp you can eat, we wimped out too. We are glad to hear you made it with out any problems. In some ways we are fortunate to have stayed behind. We had a spring shackle let go this morning. Fortunately we were (are) in Benson to have Lunch with Charlie and Nila.

Keeps us up to date on your experiences so we can feel really bad about staying back.

We go to Rocky Point all the time and we love staying at Playa Bonita. It is closer to town but sometimes if you don't have reservations it is hard to get beach front. Most of the bad things you are hearing about the border are along the Texas border and some problems in Arizona by Nogales. Never have had a problem crossing at Gringo Pass (Lukeville) on the way to Rocky Point. We have been going there for almost 20 years and have loved every visit. Have a great time and have a margarita for all of us. Just remember to wear your seat belt at all times there. For some reason this past year they have been cracking down on it. During Thanksgiving this past year that seemed to be the reason everyone was getting pulled over.

Carl,

Sorry to learn of the spring hanger failure. Did you have the heavy duty dexter units on or were you still with the old OEM?

Hope there was little damage done to the rig. And hope you can get a replacement soon.

Take care and let us know how it goes. See you soon.

No they were the original OEM junkers

We were lucky that we were stopping for lunch when it let go. The spring was riding on the frame which allowed the tire to rub slightly on the plastic wheel well. No big deal. The mobile RV folks showed up this afternoon, replaced the broken shackle, checked the rest to ensure they were O.K., and highly recommended replacing the whole shabang when we get home.

Returning to the original topic, I guess Dave and Kelly are too full of shrimp (or rack of lamb) from last night and haven't posted any more adventures to make us even more jealous.

Let us hope that it wasn't a high tide that got them!

Get those shackles changed! I am so glad your incident occurred while you were coming to a stop! It could have been much worse.

Hope you enjoy the SKYPE process. I know we are certainly enjoying "visiting" with the grandkids via this process.

Travel safely,

Dennis and Mary Kay

Dave and Kelly,
Good for you! Enjoy the shrimp. Dave, my Tri-Metric arrived yesterday. ALSO, I finally got the Monty home from Quartzsite yesterday. Heavy rains melted the snow. Monty has been down at a neighbors house. You guys be safe.

So glad you had an uneventful journey. So many shrimp--so little time.

We are back in Qsite and will be here until the end of the week. Temps were in the high 80's today. Enjoy some shrimp for us.

OUT OF MEXICO!!! After 12fantastic days,we are back in Gila Bend fora few days. the trip out of Mexico was uneventful ,and like the previous weeks dead calm. as we sit in the security of our USA RV park ,and watch the news,it's easy to see why people are not going down. The media is doing it's normal distortion thing by presenting the worst of every situation. We will be going down again next year and, with the help of the state dept. and media , we will have more than our share of shrimp,Gruper, and Margaritas!!!
