Hunting with Monty

I bought my 3000RK in October 2006 with one of the primary objectives being to travel and hunt throughout the U.S.. I am trying to avoid using guides and outfitters as that it gets very pricey. Last year I hunted Fort Campbell Military Base in Tenn. and it is a great place but am looking for other states with Military Bases, public land, etc. I will be hitting the road around April 15th (as soon as I finish with tax season) headed back to Fort campbell to start, for spring turkey season and would like to find other places in MO, IL, AR, KY, PA for this spring. Has aybody done this and have any suggestions? Will be on the road in the fall deer hunting, etc. and planning to go farther west from Virginia as I get more comfortable with the Montana. It would be great to meet people to hunt with from across the country. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Dave

You might try Fort Lenardwood MO. I don't know what camping they offer, but I do know there is a lot of National Forest land near there.
Good Luck.

I also use my Montana to hunt. My son and I plan an antelope hunt in
Wyoming this fall. We have went up there several times.

By the way, I am also a CPA just retired this year, am helping a young CPA in Clayton NM take over my clients. We plan to be a winter Texan next year.

You might try the McAlister Army Ammo plant for deer, most of it is for bow hunters tho.

Oklahoma is one of the few places that you can harvest three types of wild turkeys, Eastern, Rio Grande, and Merriam's. My son took all three one spring, had an article in Turkey Hunter, I think.

Have fun.
