I think so. These campers aren't very well built and the extra vibrations from an unbalanced tire isn't good for then and certainly isn't good for the suspension.

I agree, they sure don't come balanced from the factory as far as I know

There has also been a lot of discussion about balancing trailer tires. One of the things discussed has been regular balancing and lug centric balancing. From what I've experienced, with the machined aluminum wheels, standard balancing works just fine, as the lug holes are perfectly aligned with the center hole of the wheel. With steel wheels, on trailers, the center hole in the wheel is not machined and normally is not centered on the lug holes, so the wheel must be balanced by the lug centric method, which uses an attachment on the balancing machine to hold the wheel by the lug holes instead of the center hole of the wheel. I do find the tires do hold up better having the tires balanced, and do not have irregular wear issues. As far as better ride, who can tell with the roads as bad as they are.

I have seen many of trailers with tires much older than our 5 yr replacement oath. Many of equipment trailers hauling 15K backhoes or landscape, snowmobile and tractor trailer tires.
I have also had my share of blowouts. Travel trailers past as well as 5ers. Tent trailers never seem to have a problem unless it is a blowout.
Think of how many trailers you see on the road.
Yes I have seen TT carcass scattered along the road. I always attributed them to retread's.

I just don't understand why we have such difficulty. I had a leak at an overnight in NJ. The tire guy I talked to said inflate only to the required combined Load. His explanation was (he had a motor home) there is no flex in the tread or sidewall keeping the 80 psi if it is not required by the weight of the unit.

Another friend said if you put flour on the ground and pull the tires over it and measure the square inches occupied by the tire foot print. He could determine the weight of a 4 tire set within 400 Lbs reliably on the ground. It is pounds per square inch and he made sense. Old school or not. Just have to be careful how far go to get a good impression.

Maybe if there were 3 axles and less load/tire it would be better, Just much more expensive if we keep the 5yr replacement. I bought savaro 3.5K lbs tires for the truck twice, Tread wore way to fast but they were only $120 mounted and balanced. Not good steering tires on a dually. Yoko's were a 3 yr tire at least. Never tried Mich or BFG commercial.
