My black tank valve on my 2014 mountaineer 331rlt the cable has kinked and I will not shut the valve all the way. I can get a replacement but I have heard about valterra . Should I go with the current or go with valterra. The current valve hubs are cemented on so it would require cutting off the hubs and doing plumbing work. Any ideas? Right now my underbelly cover is down and I'm opening and closing the valve by hand so I know the valve is good.

The Valtera valve is an exact replacement for the Bristol ones. There us no need to cut the hubs as the bolt patterns are the same for both. The Vatera does have a better cable.

Many here have replaced their valves. It is a fairly easy trick, especially if you have already dropped the coroplast. Raise the front and drain the tanks. Then lower the front to prevent leakage at the valves. Many of us have cut the 3" pipe after the Wye to facilitate installing new valves. If you don't it is hard to slide the valve in without screwing up the gaskets. Use a "Nohub" plumbing connector to bridge the gap where you cut the pipe.

Did mine and are really happy with the results.

I used: Valterra Black 3" Valve TC372 Flexible Cable Kit-72 with 3" Valve

I used a ratchet strap to pull the pipes back. You only need 3/8s of an inch or so to get the new valves in. The Valterra cable is a solid wire while the Bristol is stranded. Definitely go with the Valterra!

Thank you. I was going to ask what length to get and I see you ordered the 72 inch cable. Am I right on that?

Consider throwing away the cable system all together and go with a solid rod system. Unless you want to go through this drill again. All trailers are designed differently. With mine, all I had to do was drill a hole through the frame and run the rod out with the handle on the end. The rod kits are readily available.

The 72" cable worked for my rig.
Your's may be different.

Since the corplast is loose, check what you have now?
Keep in mind, Valterra cables need about 1 foot secured straight at each end.
