We stayed at Campfire lodgings last year. There are a couple of sites that will fit our rigs. It's a bit tight getting in but well worth it. The view is spectacular.

Mama Gerties or Bear Creek if you need to be near Ashville, if not check out the campgrounds near Marion.

We like to stay at Pride Resort near Waynesville. Conveniant to Ashville, Maggie Valley, Cherokee, Great Smokey Mtn. Nat. Park, Blue Ridge Parkway, and Cataloochie Valley (home of NC Elk herd). Be sure to eat at Granny's Kitchen in Maggie Valley. Lots of things to see and do in area. If you are Coast to Coast member, only $12.00 night.
Nice park with mountain stream running through it.

Thanks for all of the recommendations. We will be staying in Pride Resort near Waynesville. I know it is a bit of a distance from Asheville, I think it might be about a 30 minute drive on the Interstate . Lucky we were able to get a site. It's a pull thru and on the creek.
Quite a few of the campgrounds are full because of the upcoming holiday weekend. From there we will be heading on to Virginia, the Shenandoah Valley.
Again thanks, it sure makes traveling alot easier when you don't have to research every campground.

if you get up towards Winchester there is a nice little campground south of there, Battle of Cedar Creek, I think the address is Middletown. It is an old campground that a young couple recently bought and are fixing it up. there are quite a few permanent people there but they have some nice pull thrus on top of the hill when you first come in. very quiet. PM me if you need more info

If you like to fish, rent a canoe , drift the Shenandoah, great fun catching "Smallies". You can rent the canoe and the co. will pick you up downstream and bring you back to your veh.
