Threaded toilet flange to threaded female fitting
I have been dealing with my Dometic 210 toilet leaking at the base where there is a large rubber/foam gasket that covers the toilet flange that is screwed to the floor. I have been noticing "moisture" in the basement below the toilet where the toilet flange connects to the female threaded abs fitting. This joint has what I think is plumbers putty to connect this joint together when the trailer was built. I know in residential housing that this joint is put together with abs cement, but in the RV world this may not be the case. With the amount of movement in these trailers going down the road I am not sure if a glued joint at this location would would stay together. I know I could cut out that section of waste line and install all new parts and then use a Fernco fitting to join the new with existing plumbing, but not sure if this would help at the threaded and glued joint at the flange.
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated! Thank You in advance to all who may reply!
Keith

Mine leaked from the get go. I was glad it was a threaded joint because it made it easy to replace the cracked flange. The gasket was also installed incorrectly so it was a double whammy. I just threaded in a new flange with pipe dope.
The floor flange is female thread, the stub that it screws to is abs glue x 3” male thread. Your older unit may be different.
Edit: I should have added that while the flange was out I “painted” the wall of the hole in the floor with a thin epoxy in case it leaks again it won’t soak into the floor.

Hi Keith
I had The same problem with my 2019 Montana. I was able to repair it by unscrewing it and applying some thread sealant. Use a non-hardening flexible sealant. This way you can easily make any future repairs w/o having to cutout your abs pipe. BTW, abs pipe is banned from home plumbing construction.Nice work Mandk.
Tip: when reinstalling your toilet add a sharkbite shut off valve.

Last time I checked, abs is still being used in residential waste line construction. At least when I was building homes. I know PVC is being used as well.
Thanks for the tip on the shut off valve.
