Girard On Demand Water Heater Issue

Well, first trip out after taking delivery, ended up with two cold showers thanks to the Girard. The water starts heating up when it gets to desired temp the panel shuts off for about five seconds. Then it comes on, starts heating up again, starts at about 80 degrees, gets back up to temp and cuts off again. Just keeps cycling. Dealer had Lippert on the phone, then had me on the phone. Says they need to replace the control board on the heater. SMH.

Just curious.
Were you trying to mix with cold water like a regular shower ?

Yes, I tried everything. Even just the hot water. Still cycled and panel would shut off. They replaced the control board and they said that fixed it.

Glad it’s fixed. (Crossed fingers)

My experience;
Trying to mix with cold water will cause cycling on/off.
Set your temp, turn on hot only, let temp stabilize for about 30 seconds then use.
Works for me.

The heater wouldn't even stay on for 30 seconds. It would get to temp then shut off the panel each time. But I'll do that.

Hopefully your dealer did get it fixed. I wonder if they hook up water and actually tested it.

A couple thoughts before you try again after the fix. Like I said before, open only the hot water faucet. Also, open it all the way. If there is not enough water flow, the heater won’t ignite or may cycle on and off.
I believe there is a flow adjustment at the heater itself. I doubt you would need to adjust that.
Someone smarter about the Girard may have a different input.
I can only speak on my experience.
Good luck.

Thanks. When I dropped it off told them I had 16 gallons in the fresh water tank. They told me they'd drain that and hook up the hose to test the water heater so I did ask them about that. Hopefully it's fixed.
