How do you organize your basement

Hello all. I read a couple of posts about what you use to pack your stuff in. As newbies, I'd like to know how you categorize your packing. Do you keep all your electrical together or do you break it out by IE. outside/inside, AC/DC, etc.

I'm thinking the way for us is pack outside/inside plumbing, electrical, etc.

I'd like to get others ideas as that is usually the best way to learn. Thanks

As much as possible in Walmart's Sterlite plasyic bins. Electric corf first, water then sewer hoses and fittings.

The 50 amp cord wont fit a bin so is rolled and stored on the floor. I usually carry a 30 amp as well when we travel and that is stored nicely in a 5 gallon bucket. All this is on ythe LH side. Tool box, lawn chairs, dog pen is on the RH side. Odds and ends - a mid size tote for spare parts and stuff we might need.

Then there is that old tried and proven method by many - open hatches, insert 'stuff' that I see some folks use. Works for them but would drive me up a wall.

What it all boils down to - whatever works for your needs. It will be what will evolve for your needs after a year or so of RVing

We're still sorting this out too. So far, 44 and 26.5 qt Ziploc storage containers. One of each will stack on top of each other and fit in the basement. But we need to get something bigger (taller) since most of my spray bottles of stuff are too tall for the 44 qt ones. Their 60 qt one is only about 1/4" taller so that won't help. We'll have to get a different brand. Maybe the Hefty 72 qt "High Rise" bin.

Just brought home a 3761FL 2 days ago. No way can we fill the storage. Only thing in the front storage is some of the sewer connections and batteries. The passthrough up front has nothing but a block of leggos that have never been used on my previous 5ers. Only used about 1/2 the rear storage.

Plastic bins for sewer hoses and attachments, bin for water hoses and cable TV cables, one shallow bin for hose support, plastic gloves for sewer draining, Pine-Sol,and sprays for slideouts. This is in the center storage area. Lawn chairs, BBQ, area rug, extra water bottles, table, soft drinks and a 6' ladder. Anything else I don't want inside the trailer. It is full when going to Arizona. Front compartment has all the power cables, dogbones and EMS.

Sewer stuff y of storage space empty up front with the batteries, nothing else. A stack of leggos in the pass through, nothing else. Most every thing is in plastic (covered) containers. One rear side compartment has the rocking chairs, beach chairs, and outside carpets and is not full. Another rear side compartment has fishing rods, tackle boxes, outside cleaning products and extendable brush, metal detector and accessories. Another side compartment has 3 tool boxes, jigsaw, socket set, and drill plus bits. The last side compartment is empty-- lots of space! The rear compartment right rear corned has a 15' 50 amp extension cord, a 20' 50 to 30 amp cord and the portable surge protector. In front of that I installed a reel for the 50 amp cord. On the left side rear I have 2 extra water hoses and a container of various sizes of cable. In front of that is another reel I roll my water hose on. In the center rear is my compressor and generator. In front of those is a large 'catch all bin. We use the 5er 6 - 8 months a year so we do not travel light and still have room for more.

Organize?

Organize basement? Good idea...I’ll add item 87 to the list!

85. Use self tappers and washers for underbelly
86. Buy TPMS
87. Organize basement
88. Revise to-do list in order of priority

What? No golfers responded?? My golf clubs get a prime spot on the right side against the end of the basement wall. Works great! But I do use plastic tubs with lids for the BBQ, 50 amp cord with extension on the floor on the left side. Air compressor on the right side near the front. Camp chairs on top of the plastic tub. As with everyone else, we always make it work for us!

Ditto on the plastic bins as already stated...have used them for years and they keep the basics separated and collected ie: Electrical - various cords and connectors, Water - hoses, connectors, filter, regulator, Sewer - hoses and connectors, definately want to keep all of this catagory contained. - all of these bins store on the away side of the rig.

The 305L has more basement storage than I've ever had before so now still thinking through the specifics of the space. Already built a shelf in the front storage, which is where I keep a lot of tools so I can fix just about anything.

Thinking about building a large drawer in the main storage on the door side for all of my set-up gear, wood blocks, etc, for quick access without undoing the other storables. Chairs, BBQ, Mats, etc all accessible from this side. Other odds and ends in the middle since they aren't needed as regularly.

You'll figure out what works for you.

Plastic bins for every thing we have. Measured the area and then went to Walmart and got bins that pretty much filled it up. Used self tappers to attach extra sewer hose holders to the frame on both sides.

Just wait! In 5 years it will be at least 75% full!

Bins, buckets, and an assortment of cable/hose wraps. I keep the water and sewer related bins and a tool tote on the left side. Sewer hose in a left side cubby where the waste valves are at above the drain. Grill, chairs, folding table, and outdoor mat on the right side. Less used items stack up in the middle of the pass-thru.

Wife's craft supplies are under the bed. Golf clubs, shoes, etc. go in the outside storage in a left/rear slide for our rear bedroom.

Shovel, axe, and a few misc. items bounce around in the front compartment where a generator would go. Hopefully that becomes an organized storage area for items in the future per another thread in this forum.

Still playing with the location for the electrical dog bones, surge protector, and 50a cord location. I can get the cord wrapped into a 5 gallon bucket, but only when it's warm. It has traveled in several locations, but haven't settled on one I like. Right now, it's with the golf clubs, which is the most convenient storage location for hook-up. If it's muddy, it ends up in the back of the truck.

Here is a picture of mine. Have since added two milk crates for tools and installed a plastic wall hose hanger for the 50A cable. Stinkey Slinkey is in a 6" fence post under the frame.
