Slam Latch Part Name Followup

I posted previously trying to find the name of the thing-a-ma-jig (always wanted to post that and now I have!!) that the slam latch lock connects with. From many internet searches, I think I have finally found the name of it and as far as I can tell it is called a paddle latch bar. Camping World called and said they can be ordered for the nominal price of $14.64 each plus shipping!! Must be routed through Keystone for that price. Then Camping World contacted me after that and said their service tech had sorted through their scrap and had found the ones that they discarded. They are mailing them to me. I was happy with the repairs and even more so with the customer service they are showing during the follow-up. Unbelievable! We all gripe about lousy customer service that we endure, but every now and then a good customer service experience restores faith in those who put up with us for a living!

I have to ask...why did they discard them in the first place instead of reusing them?

The replacement compartment and the door did not have the cut-out portion where the hooks are located to allow for the door to fully close. I doubt if they even noticed the difference, but of course I did. When the compartment was removed, I assume it was done as one piece and these latches were just left in the discarded compartment. I will simply make the interior cut with a dremel and utility knife and at least have some comfort knowing that the door will not be too easy to force open. I am just glad they found them so I did not have to purchase others which may or may not have been the right ones!

In addition to posting about the good work on the forum, I also took the initiative to e-mail the GM at the CW site to let him know how impressed I was. He thanked me and responded they usually do not hear about the good work, just the problems that customers have. I feel a good job deserves recognition just as a bad job deserves criticism.
