Gas struts for TV glass storage support 2021 Montana

I have the dreaded glass cover for my stereo, and purchased this strut to hold it open.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The dang things have , in my estimation, WAY too much pressure to even attempt installing them. I don't want to drill holes and mount it, as it feels like it takes 25+ pounds to just get the ram to move, and to hold the glass open seems like it needs a pound max to hold it open.

Anyone have another strut they used , or another solution shy of cutting a stick to hold it open?

Thanks

Allen

I turned the door upside down. Then to prevent it opening while traveling I put a Velcro strip on the corner.

If you want to try other struts
Cabinet door struts
