3585SA

Does anyone out there have the 2010 3585SA?

Have been looking at floorplan and looks good but unfortunately none around here to actually see. Have a 2006 3295RK an like the computer desk and coat closet but don't see anything similar in the 3585. How have you dealt with desk/coat closet issue?

Thanks

Dave, We have an 09 3585SA and like it very much. First off, there is a pull out computer desk under the kitchen counter. It pulls out into the living area and if sitting at this desk, you would have one of the recliners off to your right as you face aft. I haven't used it for that purpose as it is just as easy for me to put my laptop on the table and work from there. There is a coat closet, all be it a little small, on the left side of the entertainment center as you face forward. There are a couple of hooks in it and you should be able to put a small hanger bar in there as well. We really like the rear kitchen and have not had any dishes relocate while we are pulling the rig down the road. What sold us on the unit is the size of the living area itself and the kitchen out of the way in the rear. Tim

We have the 09 and we love it. Love the rear kitchen for the same reason, it's out of the way. We never use the pullout desk either,we put the laptop on the table or on the lap.

We love ours too for the reasons mentioned. LIving area is large and kitchen out of the way. No issues with dishes in the back cupboard. Everything rides smooth! It is a great unit!

We have a late-year 2007 3585SA which is the identical floor plan to the 2010 unit you're looking at, and we love that plan. In a perfect world, I'd have a desk, but we liked the opposing slides where the sofa and recliners are, so I gave up the desk for that and for the rear kitchen, which really works for us.

You do have a nice, full-length closet to the left of the television and some other storage on the right of the television. That closet was big enough to hold our "Montana winter weather" coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and muck boots, as well as some other things.

I wish I had a dedicated desk in our rig, but now that retirement is in sight, I won't need it like I needed it during the year we lived in the Montana. I'm an English teacher, so I had my desktop computer, printer, scanner, books, files, etc., scattered on the dining table all the time, resulting in our eating in the recliners on lap trays. I'm down to a laptop computer now, so I won't have the need for a desk like I had before. Laptops are easy enough to move between the counter and table, and my printer fits in a small cabinet by one of the recliners (back side of the island in the kitchen).

We love the private bathroom and rear kitchen--that's why we chose the 3585SA. It's been a great choice for us.

Wayne & Carolyn

EDIT: The 3585 does indeed have a tiny pullout desk on the back side of the kitchen "bar," but it's virtually worthless, in my humble opinion. It isn't wide enough to hold my Dell Studio laptop, for one thing, and it's so high when you're sitting that you'll feel as though you're chinning yourself on the lip of the pull-out tray. It's also inconvenient to get to because of the recliner. I guess you're supposed to be able to use the recliner as your desk chair, but you can imagine how that works . . . or doesn't. I'm a heavy-duty computer user, so I know what I need for a comfortable work area, and that pull-out thing doesn't work for me. Again, this is just my opinion.

Again, thanks to all.
I have noticed though, and just from pics I can find on the net since I haven't been able to find one to ACTUALLY see yet, that in the 2010 model, they have removed the closet to the left of the tv and made that whole area TV.

Bummer! That was a great closet for our dog leashes, coats, boots, vacuum, mop, etc. Bummer! I just looked at the 2010 plan, and not only did you lose that closet, but you also lost the storage that was on the right of the TV, a sort of angled floor-to-ceiling shelf thing. What was Keystone thinking?

Still, that rear kitchen and that nice, open living area can't be beat. We lived with our two Australian shepherds and Boss Cat for a year in that rig and never felt crowded. The dogs were inside most of the time, too, because of the severe cold.

One thing I don't like is no electric outlet by the head of the bed.It might not be a big deal but,if you use an alarm clock you have to plug it in by the bureau. Not good for the snooze feature. I don't know but maybe all models don't have an outlet by the bed. That's about all we don't like.

BJJ, Check the right side of the bed, there should be an outlet on the side of the slide. Mine has one there IIRC.

Thanks tim. I didn't want to steal the topic but seeing you asked no we do not have one unless it is hidden very well. I had some on site warranty work done and the tech told me one couldn't go there because of the wire's in the slide would get damaged from opening and closeing.

Your tech is guessing, and not doing a very good job of it at that. Otherwise, how can he explain that one of our slides has the entertainment center - complete with electrical connections and cable connections, another slide has the refrigerator with not only electrical connections in 120V / 12v, but a gas line too, or the fact that your slide already has 12 volt wiring in it for your lights? I hate it when a tech person has no idea what they are talking about, and instead of saying "I don't know", makes up some answer!

From what I see of your floor plan, it should be pretty easy to add a 120v outlet in your bed side panel(s), going up from underneath. You would have to come up with a method of looping the wire so it can move/flex with the slide, but that shouldn't be difficult.

This is a floorplan I have had interest in for a while...but I do have one question:

Where do you store bathroom items? Towels, washcloths, TP, etc....I didn't see much storage in the bath.

We have an electrical outlet on the wall between the bed and bathroom.

As for bathroom storage, our 2007 model 3585SA has a cabinet over the toilet that holds towels, soap, toiletries, makeup, etc. I don't know if the 2010 has that cabinet, but it appears there's some sort of corner cabinet between the bathroom doors and opposite the shower. Without actually seeing photos of that model, I can't be sure that area is cabinet space, however.

That baffles me about the outlet. Ozzie dw puts the big bath towels in bedroom closet overhead, and she say's plenty of room in the bathroom closet and under sink for everything else.

BJ, I'll check on the outlet when I get my rig back from the dealer who is replacing the back pressure relief valve for the black tank. As for the bathroom, in my 09, there is a storage cabinet that runs floor to ceiling in the corner you face if sitting on the commode. Plenty of storage area under the sink as well.

We have the 2007 and really like it for all the reasons mentioned by other members
As for the storage of the towels, washcloths we store ours in the floor to ceiling cabinet behind the toliet...it really holds quite alot of stuff.
