Jerking slideout fix
I have been having a problem with 2 of my slideouts jerking going both in and out. The living room slide has rollers and I was able to fix the problem by adjusting the cables such that the cables for the last direction used are tight and the opposing cables have about an inch of wiggle up and down.
My kitchen slide doesn't have rollers. It slides on a rubber strip. I adjusted it as described above. This didn't stop the jerking. I then took a bar of hand soap and rubbed it all over the fabric on the bottom of the slideout. I then brought the slideout in. It jerked a couple of times and then as smooth as new. No jerking after that. I don't know how long this will last, but it's easy to do it again if needed.
I joined the forum to post this since I couldn't find a solution online and finally figured it out. I did find lots of people with the problem. I hope this helps someone who has a jerking slideout without rollers under it.

After using the slideout, check the cable tension again. Another minor adjustment may be needed.

Good tip. The more permanent fix is to install the rollers in that slide

I agree, but my fix cost the price of a bar of soap. I'm pretty sure the slide has to be removed to install rollers. $$$$

When I first got my 2011 HC I checked many cables and never found one that was adjusted to the manufacturers recommendations. It pays to check the cable tension.

I bought rollers from RVUPGRADESTORE.COM PART#276288 Lippert 276288 J-36 Service Roller For LCI Slide-Outs.You can jack up the slide about 1.5", cut a piece out where you want the roller and screw the roller in (roller is on an L bracket). Works great. I did it on my 2015 305hc.

Thank you for the tip on the rollers. I will look into doing rollers when I get back home. I'm guessing that you have to cut a section out of the rubber strip that the slide rides on and there is enough clearance at the top to do it??
For now, I'm confident that the bar soap lubrication will last long at least long enough to get me home.
I can't understand why Keystone didn't use rollers in the first place.

There are good video's on the web on how to do it. The only thing they left out is put he slide out all the way then bring it in about 3".That way you can jack up the slide up a lot more.

Great tip. I am going to put rollers on my HC 353 slides. The “kitchen” slide with the res frig does not have rollers. The soap is a great idea.
Wonder is wax would work? I know I have used it on sticky drawers. I know someone has a great video on YouTube on installing the rollers on their slides that jerk. Interestingly, I found that the rubber seal under the slide would get into the roller and the slide had to pull across the rubber and the roller was not moving. This caused issues also. More to come

Not as inexpensive as a bar of spap but BAL recommends ZEP 45 penetrating lubricant (if you can find it!) I found some commercail grade CRC lube with virtually the same ingrediants for 1/3rd the price that does a great job on those @#$% BAL slide bars.
I have some of those LCI J36 rollers that will be installed shortly on the long LR as well as the kitcken slides. A little bit of concern is that they may raise that slide too much as the slide bar is 3/4" while the rollers will be at least a half inch higher.

I wipe down all slide seals and the undersides of the slides with 303. Its pretty slippery.

I ordered some 1/8 inch black delrin sheet 12" wide and put a piece on each end of the main slide and it completely stopped the jerking going in and out.
Pretty easy fix that should last forever for less than a $100.

I don't know how to thank you for the information and the video. I had my trailer in the shop for a month last year and again for another month this year and all they could do was dry lube and it does work but its very upsertting that a dealer didn't know about the roller fix. 800.0 later and I worry every time I use the slides. I will be installing the rollers. THANKS SO VERY MUCH

I've sprayed Dry Lube the entire length behind the rubber seal not knowing what was back there. So far it's worked. But I bookmarked the video for future reference.
