50 Amp breaker discovery

I was setting up my 2005 3255RL this weekend, and made a frightening discovery. I normally flip off my 50A main breaker before plugging into shore power. When I came back into the trailer, the two 110V lights above the couch and dining table were on even though the main breaker was off. I was shocked. I did not get a chance to test anything else, but I will tomorrow. Can someone else test this? I would have tought that the main breaker should have turned off all power to the trailer. Perhaps the two lights are exceptions!

Yep... you're wrong... the Montanas have a mix of 120 and 12 volt lights.

In my 3670 the one above the table is 120, the one over the couch is 12 volt. If they are 120 volt lights.. tripping both breakers should have turned them off.

Easy to check. First, disconnect shore power, then turn each light fixture on.

I thought our FL had AC lighting over the couch and on the wall near the recliner ...wrong!! They are DC. I will do this check on all the other lights next time we move.

Because they use wall switches, I thought that the lights above the sink (in the bedroom area) and the light fixture above the dining table were AC...I may well be wrongabout that. The only lighting that I know for sure that is AC is the big ceiling fan light.

Best,

On my 2005 3255RL the couch and table each have two lights. A 12 volt one, as well as a 120 volt one. The two 120 volt ones both seem to work with the 50A main breaker turned off!

Easy way to check is what kind of bulb does the fixture use. The only one that is AC is our unit is the ceiling fan and the table lamp.

We have several 110v lights in ours, besides the ceiling fan and table lamp, including the one over the bathroom sink and the flourescent over the kitchen sink. Also the lights on the living room slide ceiling and wall lamp. Maybe the newer models are different?

120v AC vs. 12v DC.

Y'all need to spend one night with Uncle Wally and you will never forget where the battery powered lights are.

What a shock to turn on the TV and get--Nothing!

Steve/Vicky,

No but I wish it was. Sheetrock starts going up Monday. House exterior, concrete driveway and sewer dump and 120v, 30 amp connection in garage etc all done but-. Overall a slow going project. Concrete was a big delay. Now it's the slow electrician. (Me} My Navigator hasn't given up on me yet however.

May not make it in by years end. Got heat in the lower level. May end up tenting in a bedroom come the minus 25's in January.

But, "we be watchin fer yuh, Wiz, come spring."

Take care- Enjoy the Valley. Have a Safe and Blessed Christmas and New Year.
