New better valves
Who has replaced the valves on the black, gray and kitchen tanks? Mine are getting harder and harder to open.

Some folks have had success by just changing the cables. Some have been found to be way longer than necessary, etc.

First try some of the valve lube stuff you can pour down the drain. It may help a little. If still bad, and you want to drop the underbelly, loosen the bolts that attach the two sides of the valve together. My black tank valve was getting to the point of almost being impossible to open and shut. Of course I was traveling to Alaska... So I called a dealer in Whitehorse and got an appointment to replace the valve (or fix it). They said the bolts were too tight and loosened them up. It still isn't as easy as the gray tank to open/close, but it is much better than it was before.

If you can access the cable between the handle and valve you might try spraying it with WD40. The oil will penetrate the cable and lubricate the sliding wire inside. I've done this on my mower throttle cable, the valve cables on my old trailer, etc. Sure made things better.

We had the cables replaced as our Tanks failed (black, Gray, Galley) with quality cables and hard pulling was solved.

Waiting on the winds to die down before I drop the belly to change mine. I went with bristol that I got from amazon. Did the lube tricks that worked for awhile, but not a fix.

I replaced my black and grey valves with what came on our Montana. The Lasalle Bristol termination valves. The cable length can vary, so measure that before ordering. One thing I found was that in production the cable was routed with a sharp bend as it left the pull handle end, and into the holding tank area. I cut an opening into the separation wall to allow a much more relaxed bend and hope to have less wear in the cable over time.
I did try lubricating the old cables and it provided some improvement but things only got worse after a short time.
A couple of points. Have a pail or tray ready to catch some fluids left when you remove the old valves. Be careful when installing the new valves, not to snag the rubber seals while sliding the valve in position, causing them to kink or bend out of place. Make sure they are properly seated before bolting in place. If you do a test fill and there's a leak. Check those rubber seals.
