Can you tell me which brand you bought and where? Did you have it installed or do it yourself? I’ve seen RDS tanks with s gravity feed but like the idea of pumping it in from the other tank. Thanks.

Extra fuel

Replacing OEM tank with 50 gallon tank doesn't gain much. Why not add 50 gallon Aux tank plumbed in to fill hose. Probably cost less overall and you gain 50 instead 12.

Depends on the truck. My RAM 3500 has a stock 31 gallon tank, so the replacement 52 gallon tank is a lot more than 12 extra gallons. And, now I have nothing to take up space in the bed. So for me, that's why not.

Horses for courses, and more than one way to skin a cat, and YMMV and all that

Fuel tank

We put a transfer flow 50 gal tank in place of our stock 26 gal tank on our 2012 F350. Well worth the money.

I don't know where people are getting the Titan is a 50 gallon tank. In my RAM 3500 Dually they put in a 55 gallon tank where the 32 gallon tank is, so I get 23 extra gallons, plus I still get to use my Whole 8 foot bed in the truck, when I am not towing the 5th wheel, plus my truck when fully loaded is 10,440 pounds, and when I drop in my 4,000 pound king pin, I am at my Gross vehicle weight rating, but not my rear axle weight rating, so I figure I am fine. So if I added a 75 gallon transfer tank, that would be adding another 550-600 pounds on the rear bed of the truck, which would be great for gas mileage, but put me over my gross vehicle weight rating, and rear axle rating.

34 Gallon tank here. I always carry an extra 5g and sometimes 10g on longer trips.

You can purchase the Titian tanks from Titian or any truck accessories vendor, I bought mine from XPD.

Titian only make a 50 gallon for my Ram Megacab, I believe S&B make a 52 gallon.

My F-250 has the same 26 gallons but the tank in the bed has an additional 40 gallons. I decide where and when to fuel up!

But a couple of our reasons are not on your list:
-many of the areas that we travel may not have fuel stations with easy access every 200-225 miles (the range of the factory tank). It has been stressful getting into some stations with steep driveways.
-we do often drive more than the ~3-4 hours of fuel range, many times we go ~5 hours in the day. The larger fuel tank allows for me to make the trip without a fuel stop, then once unhooked at our destination, it will be so much easier and convenient to fuel up.
-For those really long days where we might do a total of 10 hours driving, now we can make only 1 fuel stop along the way, instead of 2 or even 3.

I went years with the factory tank and finally decided it was time to do something about it. Replaced the onboard tank with a titan 52 gallon.

But with 26 gallons behind the seat and an additional 40 in the bed, I can do the 10 hour days, but I don’t.

I added an RDS 60 gallon, tool box combo to my 2016 F350 dually. Gravity feed. Easy to install.

...people are getting it from the Titan website...
Titan makes several replacement tanks, some as small as 40 gallons and some over 65 gallons. And, yes some are exactly 50 gallons, for example for the RAM mega cab. For my RAM crew cab SB, it's 52 gallons.

I agree that the extra weight needs to be taken into account and must also include the weight of the transfer tank. For the 75 gallon transfer tank with fuel, the all up extra weight is likely closer to 700lbs.

In comparison, to add a replacement titan fuel tank and an extra 20 gallons or so may add about 150 extra pounds.

I looked at several transfer tanks, but just could not get past permanently losing the bed space. So, I know I spent more money in the end, but I also know why.

Same idea

When we go full time I plan to also install one of the Titan tanks even though my F350 has a 38 gallon tank. My main reasoning? I can top it off before leaving for a day's drive and never have to worry about stopping for fuel along the way and have the stress about where I'm going to stop since I'm towing a 40' 5th wheel. And my experience has been that even if I take the easy way out by stopping at a truck stop it always takes a long time waiting on other trucks, etc. This way I can refuel just the truck after reaching my destination if needed at the end of my day at any diesel equipped station. Much less hassle and stress.

We have a 40 gal f350 and a 50 gal tank in the back thats is gravity fed. Just open the valve when below half a tank and watch it fill up as you drive. It get us between 7 and 8 hundred mile a day.. Never go that far but nice to have peace of mind as you drive all day and don't have to stop for fuel.

We take a break every 3-4 hrs and end the day at 6-7 hrs. Total distance about 300/day. No need for a larger tank.

We put the 50 gallon Titan tank on our 2013 F350 and have never looked back. There is a calibration app to install in trucks computer that gives mpg to empty, etc! Very accurate, works like factory installed!

Replaced the Factory tank in my Chevy 3500HD dually with a 61 gallon Transfer Flow tank and also added their 50 gallon aux tank in the bed. (111 gals total)

I have a 2017 F350 with 6.7 powerstroke. I installed a 60 gal aux.tank into my bed along with my factory tank is 96 gal of fuel. I average 10 mpg. I can go around 800 miles before I refuel I don’t go to completely empty. I have it gravity fed into my factory tank. Got it at northern tool. Beats stopping every 250miles.

GMC Denali 3500HD 6.6 turbo diesel. Factory 38 gallon tank. Changed out to Transferflow 62 gallon under belly. No problem ever, sometimes in areas that to fill a 38 gallon meant going some 30 miles one way if needed fueling. With 62 gallon, dont need to run and fill up. Pulling a 40 foot 5th wheel it is not always easy to just "pull in" to a station to fill up. Having the extra fuel size tank has made towing easier with when to stop and fill, or keep on trucking.
