3650rk and a shortbed...

So ive been living in my rk for over a year no and have had no major problems. But i am expecting some during or after my upcoming move from new mexico to idaho.... Im towing with a 2008 chevy 2500hd with the 6.0 gas motor, shortbed, with a reese manual slider fifthwheel hitch.... Does anyone know about how much fuel im going to burn on the way? And has anyone made journey into kooskia idaho that would know the best route in for a large rv?

It looks like 1,200+ miles depending on where you are in New Mexico. I am guessing you will get 8 MPG at best and six on the hills. So a conservative estimate is 200 gallons.

Be safe and careful with the short bed and not having an auto slider.

Just map it out accordingly and have a fuel station app on your phone. Never hurts to carry an extra 10 gallons of fuel on board.

The max tow rating on the gm is 10200.. Your trailer empty is 11750,, at a minimum you are at least 2500 lbs over the tow rating on the truck. You have a very light truck capacity. I see red flags all over... IMHO it would be best to hire someone to pull the trailer... If your trailer weighed like 9000 lbs this would work.. Not nearly 12k however..

i think those years of short beds have small fuel tanks. Getting 6-8mpg you'll be making a lot of fuel stops.

I grew up in that area. There are a lot of very big hills that tax a full ton diesel. There is no way to avoid them getting to Kooskia. Be carefull.

My first trip of about 2000 miles was with a 2004 duramax chevy. I was getting around 9.5 or 10 mpg. I looked at a map for Wy when driving from Cody to I think it was Rock Springs. I thought I would fill up on the way. I got about 125 miles to a town that had stations. But I thought I could easily make another town at around 200 - 225 miles. Got there and it consisted of a restaurant and about 10 houses - no station! I made it (barely) to Rocks Springs and filled up. I added 24.5 gallons into a 25 gallon tank!!! When I got home I put in a 52 gallon tank! LOL So yes those old trucks had small tanks.
