Post your rig year and floorplan and whether you have a Suburban or Atwood water heater.

It's a 2021 High Country, per a previous post, so likely it's a Suburban water heater. Places to check are, breaker in the electric panel, possibly a switch on the control panel that says Electric, and possibly a switch outside on the face of the water heater.

Or a faulty control board, or bad electrode. Check the easy stuff first. But, yes, might be a simple as pushing the button under the exterior cover of the water heater.

Make sure there is water in the tank. If the electric heating element was turned on for even 3 seconds with no water in the tank, the heating element could be burned out.

Do you have hot water when it's on "gas"?

Make sure you are not in by-pass mode.

Is it working on propane? It really takes troubleshooting with a voltmeter to efficiently isolate an electrical problem. The following are problems that have been noted in the past;
- bad switch inside the trailer (if you have one, some did not have an inside switch)
- bad outside switch on the front of the water heater
- bad heating element
- bad thermostat/hi temp cutout
- burned wire(s) on any of the above
- bad relay (only if you have an inside switch)
- burned wire(s) inside the junction box on the side of the water heater
- loss of neutral wire connection
- tripped 120 vac circuit breaker
- probably others I can’t think of right now

Our montana 3761fl had a 120 v cord that had to be plugged in. It was hanging in the basement by the water heater.

Were you being patient enough to see if the electric element was heating the water? The gas will heat it 60-65% faster than the electric. Seems strange the electric wouldn't work until the gas heated the water up.

Not that my practice makes it right, I use the same method you mentioned. I turn both on when I first set up camp. After a while, I turn the gas off and then just turn it back on when showering or maybe washing dishes. Let the gas do the heavy lifting and the electric maintain tank temp. I doesn't hurt a thing to leave both sources on at the same time.

If it still comes with a liitle Rocker Switch on the outside

The OEM External Rocker Switches HISTORICALLY can't handle those loads for long
After TWO switch failures I completely rewired the WH with a 20AMP Wall switch inside the RV. NO problems since then.

I assume you pressed the black reset button inside the unit?

Rocker switch

We had problems with our suburban also. We replaced the anode and the rocker switch on the tank. Inexpensive through Amazon and easy to replace. Now working like a charm.
