Whoops - did I mess up?
Hi all,
Just finished a very small project installing a magnetic door hold. I goofed up and grabbed the wrong tube of sealant, I used 100% silicone instead of my ProFlex RV sealant. Did I really mess up? What is the down side? Should I remove it? Please speak up.

As long as silicone is NOT applied on the roof, you should be OK. Mine is an older rig, and at that time the factory used silicone on the exterior. The only reason it is suggested to not use silicone is that it's almost impossible to remove if you need to re-caulk. And supposedly you can't apply silicone on top of silicone.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. I've used Silicon on different spots on my camper's body and I've not had any ill effects (yet).

You are good to go.
For future use, buy Trempro 645. That's what Keystone uses.
I've tried ProFlexRV. Worthless. It turned hard and pealed off after a few months.
Trempro 645 stays flexible even years later.

You should be fine. I use marine silicone for most things except for the roof. It is much more durable than rv or any regular type silicone. It is firmer, holds extremely well, and is removable with some effort. Once you apply it you will usually not have to worry about it for a long time. It remains flexible and doesn’t dry out or crack. If applied to a properly cleaned surface it will be there until YOU remove it. If you want something softer and more easily removed, use the other stuff. Happy trails.
