Refrigerator
Our refrigerator goes from hot to cold to hot. It will cool to 34 and then hours later go to 62 and then many hours later go to 42. It never stays on 34 on electric. Any suggestions on where to start to problem solve this issue would be helpful? Thank you

Welcome to the forums. Sorry to hear about your difficulties with your refrigerator.
More information is needed before folks can help you out. What make, model, and year is your camper? Is your refrigerator an RV Gas-Electric absorption refrigerator, a residential (all electric) refrigerator, or a DC (battery run) refrigerator?
If it's a gas-absorption RV, does the refrigerator run correct when on gas? Are you the original owner? Did the refrigerator work properly in the past? Is this something that just started, or has it been going on for a long time?
More info is needed.
Welcome to the forums, you're in good hands here. Lots and lots of great knowledgeable and experienced people here.

Welcome to the MOC. What dutch said.
I have a 2022 Monty with a Dometic absorption fridge. I've been having cooling problems as well. It's an intermittent problem. Recently it went from 34 to 60 then to 42. We have already preformed all the tests required by Dometic and were denied warranty. We have an extended warranty which approved the replacement of the cooling unit. I was on shore power when it hit 60. I ran it on gas at the coast last week and it held at 39.
If you have a newer unit I'd start the warranty process.

2018 3160RL. It is electric / gas refrigerator. Not residential and not DC. We are the third owner. We have no manual and came in this blind. We have never ran it off gas. Only electric. We don’t no if the refrigerator worked right or not being the fact we are the third owner. Since we have had it we have always had problems with it. Thank you for your help

I'd try switching it to gas and see if it acts the same if for nothing more than trouble isolation. If it cools normal on gas then it could be a weak electric heating element which is an easy change out. If not that possibly a bad control board. Switch it over to gas. Make sure the burner fires. Run it that way for awhile and report back.

Tammy,
If the center flap in the refrigerator section is not fully sealing, it will have trouble maintaining cooling.

Thank you. Not under warranty. We will check to see why gas isn’t working also.

I did notice that when you close the doors you have to double check as closing one opens the other. Yes run it on gas and see if it works.

Yes. We made sure the one door is shut first and then shut the other one and then we push them both tightly to check. We are going to try it on gas. But it has to be fixed also. Not sure if it is the solenoid valve. We haven’t heard it click.

I had the same fridge for 7 years and it never worked correctly for more the 7 days, always radical temps etc. Don't believe the temperature indicator on the fridge. If it's within 5-6 degrees you're lucky. If you want to know correct temperature purchase a remote reading thermometer, then you will now correct temperature. I finally replaced my fridge with a DC model from JC Refrigeration located in Shipshewana, IN. phone number 260-768-4067, info@jc-refrigeration.com, or www.jc-refrigeration.com. they have various option from conversion to a complete replacement with a DC 19 cubic foot residential type fridge. I should have replaced min 6 years ago :-)

Maybe this thread will help. We had problems a few years ago, and after much input, I did some research online and found the solution. Maybe it will help, maybe it won’t. But it’s worth a try.

Tammy-- Have you checked to see where the thermoster is set on fins inside your frig. The temp is regulated by that clip with the wire attached inside your frig. If it has become disconnected it will do what you are describing. If it is missing it will do the this also. It is a small clip with a wire connected to it usually by the top shelf right hand side of the frig. Check to see if you have it or where the clip is positioned then get back to us!

Another vote for JC Refrigeration. I put their 12VDC dual compressor in our Norcold 1201LRIM after our cooling unit completely died. Turn it on and it's making ice cubes within 30 minutes. Ambient temp over 100 when I timed it.
