I've been using the method posted above by RWHIT for a few years. It works perfectly on hard surface setups.
Other conditions can require some slight adjusting/allowance such as: if the trailer has settled in a soft surface and/or the truck sinks into soft soil or rut (as in mud) or there is vegetation at the measuring point or a strong wind or....
