Angry What happened to good ol Floorplans?

Picked up a 10/21 "Montana Luxury Fifth Wheels" Brochure.

I must be very out of touch with what's desired today....

Why must all floorplans have a large or small Kitchen Island with sink? What happened to more open plans with the Sink part of the non-slideout Kitchen area? And not have a Island usually nearby the big screen TV?

What happened to a little desk area for the Laptop or Tablet? Ya, I know they're all wireless and can go anywhere... But why not have a little 2' wide cupboard space as in our old 2005 3670 with a dropdown lid "desktop" and plenty of room for a Printer, Laptop and even a Desktop underneath if desired?
Is VERY handy for us albeit we must pullup a kitchen chair (and we leave it there when parked).

Why must all Bathrooms be single rooms with a Toilet (which sometimes for other brands look crammed in)? I enjoy our separate Toilet Room with vent for "reading time privacy" and NOT stinking up the shower/sink area especially when in simultaneous use - which does happen often... On our old obsolete Floorplan behind the first Pocket Door then up the steps to the Toilet Door on the left, shower and sink on the right and double sliding doors to the actual Bedroom.

Hmm, the NEW 3781RL has the W/D Closet next to the Front Door. For easy access for maintenance and installation? Not too homey to me...

At least the demonstrably gloomy depressive Gray color schemes are trending to more white. Maybe our natural Oak interior will be trendy again someday...
The structural and functional improvements are impressive...

We live in ours continuously for 3-9 months per year so maybe that sets us too far apart from the norm...

I wish I was not so out of touch with must most want today and could justify buying new.

I love it when we leave an RV show and my wife says, "I didn't see anything I liked better than what I have."

Ha, that’s funny. We said the same thing. There was a DRV we saw at Tampa that we liked, but not at that price. Agree on the gray cabinets, we opted for white. We’re happy.

Definitely a constant evolution in floorplans, size, and color schemes. Remember the fabrics from the 60s thru 80s where it seemed the goal for RV manufacturers was to find the largest lots of the ugliest fabrics and wallpapers available and put them in everything? Some ghastly colors and patterns from that era.

I do appreciate that most RV's are being built to more replicate a home decor with splashes of elegance...the higher the price tag the more elegant. However, all of that remains subjective.

After 40 years of RVing and looking at endless other rigs I have yet to find the perfect one. There's always too much, or too little, too big, or too small of whatever someone's preferential hot button is. It's impossible to mass produce everyone's perfect setup.

I'm not sure why but I prefer my S&B kitchen cabinets painted and my RV cabinets stained wood. But...that's me

We love our 373RD - NO ISLAND, kitchen is NOT on a slide, Bathroom has two sinks and there is more the one way to dry your back. Plus the garage in the rear.

I’d like to see a smaller unit, say 27 feet with 3 slides one in the bedroom and two in the living area. I guess if there was a market for that someone would be making it.

Sales and marketing, plain and simple. With little to no change in floorplans there would be little incentive to trade in that 2-3-4 year old model for a new one. But they can throw lots of glam and glitter at their target market and convince many they must have that to stay current or fall behind everyone else.

Ditto that! We call ourselves trailer junkies meaning we always enjoy looking at new trailers. We say the same thing, they don't have anything on ours. If build quality was what it should be we might be tempted on occasion but it isn't happening. We have our last trailer.

Slightly longer at 32 feet, but check out the Springdale 5th wheel: The first one on this page.

A floorplan question I have is why we don't see front bedrooms that have two slides? It seems that the structural strength is there since they exist in Front living units. I would love to have an extra slide in my bedroom to have a little more space.

Nice but it’s 5 feet too long and has only two slides. Like I said if people wonted it someone would already be making it. I guess I’m the only one. Something like this would be great in OUR National Parks.
Thanks

That desk area on our 3560RL became very important. On trips my wife was able to teach her 4th grade class while zooming at that desk. Also nice is the retractable 50" TV in that desk top. Just a fluke we found our trailer used with those nice features.

I remember our first 2004 fifth wheel trailer without an island with a sink and with a separate cramped water (toilet) closet and shower and vanity next the bed, large built-in old, large and heavy tv, hand cranked rear stabilizers and electric front stabilizer legs..........very happy with our 2020 Montana with an island kitchen, separate walk-in bathroom with ample room around toilet, large light-weight flat screen tv and Lippert hydraulic stabilizers with auto level.

We love the stacked washer/dryer in the kitchen vs. bedroom on our 2020 Montana 3780RL. Easier access and eliminates the additional weight in the cab.

Wy we kept our old one

Most of the floor plans do little for us. Old 2010 Hickory Edition 3605RL with solar and LiPO, gen set, 17.5 Sailuns, used only part time, in nice shape. Just going to do floors and leave it alone. Discouraged because I have worked on quite a few newer ones .. The construction materials and quality took a nose dive in 10 years.

If you are looking at the 3781, then 3763 or the 3791 at least solve the TV problem. Probably have enough room to set up a desk in front of one of the sofas. The 3855 has an entire seperate office if needed, but you have the island. Of course that doesn't block the TV. We have an earlier version and it's works very well.
