Sewer Hose Storage

I just bought, but have not yet taken delivery of, a new Montana High Country 351BH. I forgot to check when I saw the rig after it arrived at the dealer whether it came with a sewer hose storage carrier installed under the frame. Does anyone happen to know whether it includes one from the factory?

Thanks!

We just use a plastic storage bin from Walmart instead of the back bumper which isn't big enough for 25-35 feet of hose or the needed fittings. Nor is it large enough in diameter for anything but the low end hoses and fittings

I do have a plastic tube that I added on the basement ceiling but it only is used for fishing rods

Our 2019 3791RD came with a storage tube under the ODS front. Unfortunately, it is so short that I can only store one 10' section of sewer hose in it, which is where I keep the extra hose I rarely use. I have a plastic tote that keeps all the sewer pipe and connectors stored in the basement area.

I replaced the storage tube (ODS mounted to frame below basement door) on our 3121RL with an adjustable length model expanded as much as would fit. Easily store 2-10' hoses. Remounted the OEM tube on the DS, not currently using it though. When only using 1-10' length I reconnect when storing to make retrieving both easier.

Several in our group have made their own.
5"x5" PVC post sleeve. 4" PVC gutter.

That post sleeve and gutter system looks like a great idea. Is it mounted to the metal skirting? Or is there some sort of strapping to the rig's frame?

Strap screwed to the frame.

I suppose nobody knows if an HC351BH comes with a factory installed sewer hose carrier. You will find out soon enough.

I built under frame carriers on my older figs, but on our 2017 I just bought a second carrier on Amazon and screwed it to the frame on the other side. Since I use Rhino Flex sewer hose both of them hold more than i ever use.

I bought an adjustable Valterra tube. The price has gone down a bit since I bought it in 2018. I adjusted it out as long as it would fit (maybe 9'-10'?) and installed it by my sewer connections. I took the OEM baby-sized tube and installled it on the curb side. I can get 2 sections of hose in the Valterra tube and one stays in the baby tube plus I have another section of hose in a plastic container in the storage bay.

I too used a fence post like a couple of people above. I also can get 2 10 ft hoses in it. An additional benefit is I can fit the angled screw on adapter that goes in the sewer into the end of the fence post. So all gunky stuff is stored in here.

Ours came with a short tube that will not even fit a 10’ sewer line compressed. As others have suggested, get a tote for storage. It has a LOT of storage room. We’ve had ours now for 2 1/2 months and love it!

I went a bit of a different route. . .

The kitchen gray tank valve is behind a door set into the skirting. The skirting makes about a one foot by 8" by 5 foot hollow area, sealed on both ends. Nothing bigger than a pencil could fall out of it, but it's far from sealed up tight.

I store my two hoses, extra fittings, rubber gloves and a short piece of hose I use on my blue boy in that skirting area. Screwed a couple of the Camco sewer storage caps to the end so that the extra fittings hang there. Put an eye bolt with two bungee loops about a foot from the end so that hoses don't slide back out of reach.

As long as you rinse your hoses first, there is no smell or gunk to to worry about. The little water in the hoses either evaporates or trickles out of the "compartment" as I'm driving (just like it does with every other solution). Every once in a while I rinse the area out just like I used to rinse my hose holders on my old rig, but mostly it's just a bit of road dust that rinses out.

The pvc fence post with gutter solution is the bomb; hit your favorite big box store, parts are super reasonable. I've done that on the last few RV's as the built in carriers have all been either to small in diameter or to short.

Congratulations on your new High Country!!

Suggest checking with the dealer on whether the trailer comes with an external sewer hose storage carrier and how much hose length it can stow. If not, suggest adding one. Ideal is an external carrier for two 10 ft hoses. When I purchased my 2020 3780RL I overlooked this feature and discovered it only came with one external carrier for one 10 ft hose. Just recently replaced it with one that holds two hoses. No more storing the second hose in the basement storage compartment.
