Is there a better propane detector

The propane detector near the stove is chirping and the light says it has lived a full and energetic life and needs a new one to replace it.

OK, with that said, is there a better one then the low end MTI SafTalert supplied by Keystone? Surprised that they start at about $50 especially with smoke/fire/CO detectors being so inexpensive.

My Safe-T-alert started beeping after 6-7 years. Looked at printed date and it was 6 months or so past due. Replaced it with same and that one is still working but probably again nearing expiration. Is there a better one? Have no idea. But figure 6-7 years is pretty good.

I replaced our first propane detector at about 3 years, used the exact same model as was installed. Last January while at Quartzsite, that one started the beeping, so we got the full life from it. Managed to find one at the RV place, different than the original, but still the same brand and it is working just fine. This is a link that has evaluated propane detectors that might help you. https://www.smartrving.net/best-rv-propane-detectors/

Looks like the MTI is about the best of a ho-hum lot.... Since it wont be needed until April at the earliest, I added it to my Amazon shopping list and will order it early spring and hope for a late manufacture date. The beeper will be removed tho as it really gets annoying when I'm puttering in the %er.

Thanks for the insight

I finally had to replace the original propane detector this year. Lucky that it decided to tell me during the day and not in the middle of the night. Not as easy to disconnect, as taking the batteries out. I found a replacement on Amazon. When looking for one, make sure it is the same style. There are flush mount and ones that have to have a hole cut into the wall. Remember which wires are connected together.

My new propane detector finally arrived today after a month's wait. Amazon ain't always fast.

The manufacturer finally put a real replace time on them rather then a 60 months after date of manufacture. Now it's replace in 60 months after retail sale or in our case, after installation (or when it starts to chirp again).

If we get a warm day, I'll roll out the slide and install it and stop the chirp that my DW mentions on a regular basis
