Maxx Fan

Maxx fan in bathroom came on spun and stopped. Was starting and stopping. Vent opens closes buttons work but no fan movement. Other one works in Kitchen. Any ideas? Motor? Disappointing since Rv 4 years old and have owned 2 years and used it about 6 times. Will call company but figured with all the knowledge here someone may have an idea.

If this is all the problems you have with your camper you got one of the good ones. I think you have a bad connection or the switch is bad. If it was the motor was bad it wouldn't start and stop. Jiggle the wires close to the motor. These little switches are junk I'm betting it's the switch.

I replaced the plastic 'thing' around the edges. I think it had a connection that plugged in to either the fan or the switch. My bet is this may have fallen out. By the way, the reason I replace the thing is when up on the roof putting on a new rubber gasket, I thought the plastic looked a bit yellow. So I pushed on it a little bit and it broke in my hands. So be careful when messing around with it!!!

That's one of the reasons I use vent covers. The UV rays are hell on plastic and it's easier to change the cover than the vent.

Maxx fan with rain sensor question

Hello,
I am a new member on this forum and I wanted to ask a question. I have a 2017 Montana 3661RL. I have the Maxx Fans with rain sensors in the kitchen and in the bathroom. Would any of you recommend placing vent covers over these? I had them on my TT and other than the normal response of "you will be able to open them while it is raining" Im not sure of the benefits. Thanks.

Yes, I recommend covers, not only can you open while its raining, but if it rains to hard water will still splash in and they will close automatically. Plus the biggest reason to cover is the UV protection from the sun. Covers will make them last longer.

Thanks for the opinion. It looks like I will be adding covers during the next outing on Labor Day weekend.

Not that I have seen, although I spray painted my skylights with Gloss White Krylon paint. Cuts out almost all of the heat yet lets the light in. It also stops the clear lens from weathering so much and becoming brittle.

Has anyone ever tried the automobile tinting sheets and placing them on the inside panel of the sky light. I heard that this helps with the weathering/heat/light. It llooks like the inside panel of the sky light can be accessed by just removing a few screws.

Yes a lot of people have done this. once you pull the inside down, you will notice there is an inner plexi glass and the outer shell. you can place the tinting on top of the inner piece. Also there are multiple colors and textures of tint at those big stores like Home Depot, if you want to make it fancy and not just tinted.

max air vent cover

I have added the max air vent cover. I have noticed that when the electric motor raises the vent it now runs into the added cover. I was wondering if that was going to burn up motor that raises the vent.
Thanks

I am not certain but I think I read or saw somewhere that you can purchase the max air vents that are made with the clearance needed if you have the Maxx Fans in your unit. Correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe that you can purchase one with the extra clearance.

Both Fantastic Fan and MaxxFan owner's manual says they are designed to touch the cover or anything such as a limb, run for a few seconds and stop. This is normal and will not damage the motor.

Thanks, for the input, that's what I was thinking since the motor doesn't continue to moan . Must have some sort of limit switch incorporated into it
