It makes good business sense for Ford to partner with a known hitch manufacturer. They wanted to offer a factory hitch prep and needed a readily available hitch ready to drop in. Works to the advantage of both Ford and Reese. I do not think there were as many options when I bought mine over a year ago. But I bought it as part of a truck package deal thru the dealer. It was ordered thru their parts department and came with decals on it labeled "Ford Custom Accesories" and REESE.
Unfortunately, as I understand it, Dodge came up with a factory hitch prep package but did not have a hitch available to fit it. Oops! Don't know if they have resolved that problem or not.
