YIPPEE!!

So, the little woman tells me this morning, "Why don't you go up to Tiarra RV and look at Montanas today?" Now, me being the obedient husband that I am......I could not say "NO".

Drive up to the other end of town and bumped into the same salesman that sold us the Challenger six and a half years ago. Had a nice conversation and he remembered Gail and I pretty well, looked thru a couple units, and picked up a brochure.

I have always been sorta' partial to the Big Sky. Especially since they have brought them back with the full body paints.

Question for all you late model Big Sky owners out there. Any paint issuse I need to be aware of? Such as flaking and peeling. Who does the painting for Keystone on these things?

I'm thinking that the black and gray would look pretty nice setting on the back of the old Chevy.

Ok Dale, you need to tell your DW to talk to my DW and have tell me to do the same thing! So which unit are you looking at? Which Model? I like either one of the full paints and they both would look good behind my TV also! See you down the road! Good luck on the new Monte! Let us know what you decide!

Ron, if Mary lets you buy a new rig you will have to use it more. Meaning that you would have to pack it up and come down to Quartzsite (leaving your gorgeous winters behind) for a couple of months in the winter.

We just bought a 2009 Big Sky last spring. The paint looks great as if brand new. The Big Sky's still have graphics on the front cap and on the door side. Our front cap graphics where peeling and cracked so we got those replaced free of charge from Keystone and the dealer we bought our unit from. Just love the full body paint, its worth it in our opinion.

Rondo, Looking at any of the floor plans that allow us to get at the fridge and rest room while traveling without having to open any slide rooms. That looks to be the 3455SA, 3400RL, the new 3402RL, 3580RL, and 3665RE. I do really like the 3700RL. The only draw back there is where the fridge is located. No matter what floor plan we buy, it will have the double wide fridge. However, it will be all up to the wife as to what feels right when we get more serious about buying.

Charlie, MIMF will change from Montana In My Future to.....Montana Is My Future!

Bill, Thanks for the info on the paint. Would still like to know who or how Keystone is getting these painted.

Bobby, You are indeed correct in that, I am struggling with retirement! I am working harder now physically more than ever! That is because, until Gail retires, I have become the chief "house maid and butler". And, if she gets her way (she most likely will), you can add "pool boy" to that job description. That's because, she is wanting to move from this big old 2 story to a big new ranch that already has a pool in the back yard.

We have a black and grey Big Sky and love the color. When we were at the rally, went on the factory tour and I remember that the Keystone Rep said that it costs an extra $6,000 for it to get done and takes a week. I don't think he mentioned where it was painted.

The con is it shows the dirt more than a light color would.

The pro is it looks great with Jim's grey truck.

Either one looks great!!

Marge,

I agree with what you are saying about it showing dirt easier and that either color will look great. Oh well, may just have to decide to get the standard graphics with all of the bells and whistles. That will be OK, too.

I think you'll make a good pool boy. Whichever model you choose, congratulations, you've worked long and hard for this.

Gota agree that the BigSky works well for me and my family. The paint appears to have been done well too.

Paul and Jan, we found out last week when we checked into looking at and touring this property.......it sold. So obviuosly, things are going to change. However, just yesterday, we did tour a property that had an 8 person hot tub out beside the back patio. Gail said that would be close enough to a pool since she can't swim anyway.

adelmoll and Imccallister, thanks for the info on the paint for the Big Skys.

I have also realized in the last several days that, since another dealer over here on the west side of Elkhart has closed down resently, my dealer (Tiara RV Sales)appears to now be handling the DRV Mobile Suites. Since they have those, the Thor Redwoods and Montanas...... I might be in a real pickle!

MIMF... Have talked with Keystone folks a number of times about the BigSky. I was told they paint them right there as they come off the line. In fact, I was told by a Regional Sales Manager that there is currently a significant backlog on BigSky's because as he put it "We can't paint them fast enough and Ketstone won't build another paint room." No problem if your buying off the showroom floor, but if your going to order a BigSky from Keystone plan on adding 4 to 5 weeks to the standard built time to get it painted.

When we bought our 3580RL Big Sky this year I was not to hot on the full body paint but we wanted the Lippert 6 point leveling system and had to take the full body paint to get the system. Now that we have it I love the full black and tan body paint, it is a real eye catcher. My F250 is white over the same tan as on the trailer. The Big Sky package was $6,000 extra but worth it to get the paint, Lippert leveling, tires and wheels and the shower.

maximo, those are all of the reasons I would like to have the Big Sky package.

Gail wants to get settled into a new home and retirement. So, most likely be another year or two before a new unit comes along. And, that is OK with me.
