first trip with Ford

well, after one year of ownership, we finally took our 5th for a trip.
A bit over 800 miles this leg. I am impressed with the Ford. I love the integrated brake controller. Tow/haul mode is as good as my exhaust brake I had on our 6 speed manual Dodge. I used the Slip Plate graphite spray on the Pullrite hitch. Much cleaner than the wite grease I used before.

Yes the tow/Haul is aw-some.We ran the WVA tpk behind a friend with Dodge Diesel with Exhaust brake pulling a 2955.The T/H mode did as well as his Exhaust brake on those nice grades..And yes he would show off (take this Rich) and torque away from my V-10.. so he got over the top 30 Seconds before we did and a lot hotter. Hopefully we will have a "good"" diesel in 08 or so if anyone will be able to make one what with all the new restrictions.Meanwhile the V-10 does the job..we have plenty of time to get up the 7/8/9% grades.

Glad to hear you had a good trip. So far we have been pleased with the tow/haul feature and integrated brake control also. They were the deciding factors in choosing another Ford PSD. Our break-in trip was a run to Arizona and back and things went smoothly. Safe travels.

My real deciding factor was when Ford upped the weight rating in 05. I feel better about the pin weight I haul now and the extra 50 gal aux tank I have in the bed. I liked my Dodge - I really like my Ford.

Illapah,

Glad to hear your first trip was a good one, and you are right the integrated brake controller & Tow/haul mode are one of the best new features Ford has added in a long time. And us out in the west have some serious hills to pull.

I have to agree. Towing ability and that controller are truly sweet with the new Fords. I see no reason to do anything but leave it pure stock.
