Taking the squat out
Has anyone tried the SuperSprings? Wondering what the pros and cons vs AirBags?
Thanks

Not sure what Super Springs are but I have Timbrens and love them. They only engage when loaded so the ride is not affected when you are not hooked up. There is no maintance to these once installed which took about 45 mins. The ride IMO has improved while towing and the truck stays level.

Paul;
Just installed Timbrens on my F-250 two days ago. Haven't towed with them yet so can't say how well I'll like them. From what I've read, I anticipate good things though.
Selling points for me were; 1: Zero maintenance. 2: They don't change the ride when using the TV alone. 3: Price when compared to the "active" systems. 4: Ease of installation.
Here are a couple of retailers. I ordered from Stingel Brothers and was very impressed with the fact that they shipped my order the same day I placed it.

I installed Firestone air bags myself three weeks ago. We are now 1400 miles into ouyr trip and they really do help take the squat out and also help in leveling when I set up as the truck doesn't squat so much, I don't haved to raise the landing gear as far to get disconnected. We have left about 20 pounds in them all the time and we don't get a bad ride when in the truck alone and when we have the Montana attached the air pressure increases to about 45 pounds with the load.
We are really happy with them and the price we paid for them at Summit Racing. I think it was $239.00 shipping included.

I went with an air ride hitch. I heard that adding air bags to leaf springs will help the truck ride better but transfer it into the fifth wheel. The stock suspension is stiff enough (at least on the 3500). I haven't towed much but I know that my truck rides real close to the same when not loaded. I can tell a difference between having a truck bed full of wood (swaying), and having the much much heavier fifth wheel hooked up. Look up some of the stories about people traveling the Alcan and there problems with airbags on leafsprings. I was also looking at the 4-link set up that Kelderman air ride sells. It replaces the leafs with air bags. Just my 2 cents.

Bill, you said truck stays level when loaded. I'm confused. Doesn't the truck bed have to lower in order to engage the Timbrens? Or am I missing something?

Dave,
I quess I didnt explain that very well, when the truck is empty it is not level, rearend is higher, when hooked up it is. Its drops about 2" when loaded.

bill...
question regarding the timbrens...did you also install the front set or just the rear set, eh? given the nature of 5th wheel towing would there be anything gained with the front set?

Tony,
I installed the rears only, no need for the fronts.

I don't understand how airbags could transfer anything to the fifthwheel. Maybe I'm missing the point. All the airbags do is raise the bed to level. It's no different than having the overload spring that comes on the F250 with the Camper Package or standard on the F350. Extra springing is all it is. What am I missing?
