Just received our CSA News. Here is the latest. "Personal Importation of Beef Not Permitted."
"On July 18, 2005, Canadian/US borders resumed commercial beef importation. Live Canadian Cattle under 30 months of age is again permitted entry into the U.S. However, be aware that the personal beef importation remains prohibited. Without a special permit, frozen, cooked, canned or otherwise processed products containing beef, veal, or lamb will not be permitted across the border. This rule also applies to homemade foods, such as lasagna, stews, chilli, spaghetti sauce, and sandwiches. Also, pet food containing meat by-products will be denied entry. In general, products such as poultry, pork, butter, eggs and milk are permitted into the U.S. If the packages indicates that the product(s) originated in Canada or the U.S."

I guess that clears the air.

Thanks again. We are now well informed I think. I will still call the customs before we leave though. and I will let you all know later in the year how we got on.

Ann, we are leaving the first weekend in November also. But we are going via Windsor. This will be our first long trip. and our first time to the States. so we are taking a very leisurly stop and go trip to Texas. That way we hope to see places on the way before things get too cold.

Nesta: Have you decided which route you are taking yet? We are considering going via Indiana again and down to Nashville and then down the Natchez Trace. Lovely drive if you aren't in a hurry. We don't use the Interstate Highways but stay on the back roads. More to see and more leisurely. Our email address is wweaver@netzero.com if you want to write off the forum.
