Picked up our Montana today

Husband of the boss here! We brought home our 2013 3150RL Hickory Edition today. Parked it in the driveway, hooked up to the 50amp service I installed over the weekend, and spent the evening figuring out how everything works. We were very blessed to find this gently used unit at a price we could afford. It's definitely a huge step up from the 24 foot, single slide, 2001 SOB that we've used since 2006. I'll start packing up in the morning and we'll head out Wednesday to our favorite Forest Service campground for Labor Day weekend. A little boondocking to cleanse the soul. We plan to enjoy as much fall camping as possible, then put the Monte into storage until we leave for Stacey's travel nurse contact in late Jan or early Feb (wherever that may be as long as it's considerably warmer than Michigan's UP).

Congrats. Curious what forest service areas you recommend in the UP. My DW is from up there and we want to take our new 3160RL up there before winter hits if possible.

Congrats. Curious what forest service areas you recommend in the UP. My DW is from up there and we want to take our new 3160RL up there before winter hits if possible.
Our favorites are all within 50 miles of our homestead and include (in no particular order:

Pete's Lake and Widewaters - both north of US 2 on Forest Highway 13 south of Munising (no hookups)

Camp Seven Lake - north of US 2, and east of Forest Hwy 13 on Co Rd 442 (some sites with elec)

Little Bay De Noc Rec Area: South of US 2 (near Rapid River)on Co Rd 513; 3 separate campgrounds on the shore of Little Bay De Noc (no hookups)

Be sure to check on-line for dates that they close for the season; some sites stay open until November.

Thanks for the suggestions. Yeah I saw many close by the end of Oct. Also I saw many have some tight length restrictions. We'll look into these.

We like our 3150RL. Bought it new in 2010. We are using it even more now that we are retired.
Happy trails!

Welcome aboard the MOC bandwagon. Enjoy that new unit and if you have any questions concerning the unit ask away. You'll get answers from the most knowledgeable folks around. I was stationed in the UP many moons ago while in the USAF. Really liked the area except for the 13 ft of snow we had that year I was there before being discharged. LOL

Thanks to everyone for all the good wishes. We got back from our maiden voyage yesterday. Everything worked as it should with our Montana and we couldn't be happier. Our only problem was with a rear brake locking up on our tow vehicle (2003 Dodge 3500 dually)on the return trip. A few minutes cooling off on the roadside and some tapping on the caliper with a hammer got it released and we made it home with no further problems. It'll go into the shop next week for inspection and repair before we head out again. The 30 unit Forest Service campground we stayed at had another Montana (2008 3000RK)and a 2013 Mountaineer 350DBQ. Talked with both owners and spread the word about MOC.
