LOL... Great Graphic, Glenn! Whoa, that was a coincidently Goofy greeting. Thanks, and be safe, Glenn.
Have fun this weekend, everybody. Don't blow everything up - just some things! That's why we're going to someone else's house (shhhh, they don't realize this.)

Our Daughter-In-Law (number 1 son) is from Scotland, just outside of Glasgow. Her parents come over every 3 years or so to visit but this year brought the entire family. Mother, Father, 2 sons and Daughter, all adults. The younger daughter had to go back and had a flight today the 4th of July. Of course that day has no significance to them . Just a good day to get a flight. We had them all over for a good old all American 4th of July cookout yesterday. BBQ Pork Spare ribs were a big hit as they had never had them before as were"American" hamburgers. It is good to hear the perspective of folks from other countries. Our Caravan(the 3400) was to them unbelievable and many pictures were taken. Also the big Ford 350.Nothing like that in Scotland. They commented on the abundance of consumer goods, the low prices, Petrol being so cheap, Our interstate system, low taxes on everything. How big this country is and the space. They commented on the abundance of American flags flying everywhere. One of the sons said " you live in a paradise you have to see it to understand" .Scotland is not a backward nation yet we have so much. Things we take for granted and complain about are seen as a paradise to others. their comments were well taken on this 4th of July.

Funny story about the Scots. I have a similar one with a young English couple DW and I met on an Pacific coast Amtrak trip. Since we were familiar with the L.A., CA area they asked and we offered a lot of information about the places they were going to visit in Southern CA. As we were returning to the Los Angeles Union Station to pick up our truck to drive home, we offered a ride to them about 15 miles away which they shyly accepted - I think they picked up we were just trying to be nice Americans. They had a lot of luggage and warned us about it, but we assured them this was not a problem. They were quite puzzled when they also saw the large amount of luggage we had. However, after the long walk from getting off the train, and walking to the parking lot and we returned to the truck. They burst out laughing!! The young man could not stop laughing as he saw the size of our Ford F-250, the crew cab seatint with ample room and especially the large truck bed where we could put our luggage, all their luggage and I had a cover to keep everything safe and dry (it was drizzling ever so slightly). They laughed at the height as we were driving. They laughed as I explained many Americans had trucks like this and we were not THAT unique. As we drove them to their hotel, besides pointing out a view attractions in the distance and some roadways to get there, their laughter continued as they scanned inside the cab at all the room, the GPS I used other gadgets, and the elevated ride. They continued to laugh about it all the way to their hotel.
Right now, I don't remember their names, but your posts reminded me how much we take for granted, the freedoms we have, the accomodations we seek and the room we use and how a wonderful chance meeting with visitors from afar can humble how fortunate we are.
Happy Birthday to our Country, the freedom, and the people who help it continue to be as grand as it is.
