stains on ceilings

Has anyone noticed any stains on their ceilings. Today I noticed faint brown stains in the kitchen/living area. They seem to be along where the roof trusses run. They are very light but they are there'They are on most of the truss lines of the ceiling. They are like a i/2 to 1 inch circle. Thanks in advance.

Do a search on ceiling stains here on the forum. I remember someone else having the same thing about a year ago -- I think they thought it was condensation from the metal roof joists and dust collecting.

I just did the search and found this thread from back in September:

Not sure the same thing as you are asking about, but, a while back, SReigle reported staining on his ceiling, felt cause was burning of candles in the unit. Since then, many of us ladies who like to have scented candles going have switched to candle warmers.

I would imagine if someone smokes in their unit they may also find residue on ceiling. ???

I think this reference to other thread is what you are experiencing.

Good luck.

I had similar stains as you describe on my ceiling. After checking it out more closely I thought they were a discoloring of a putty the factory may have used to fill staple or nail holes when the ceiling was attached. I don't know if this is the case or not or if there are any staples that attaches the ceiling to the trusses. I was able to clean some of my spots by just using a sponge. Knowing me I probably used a little dish soap or something else on the sponge. JB

Carol,
Al loaned me some cleaner he had that the Keystone Customer Service Rep. recommended for those stains. Maybe he remembers what he loaned me to try?! Didn't write it down, and have a case of CRS!!!

I had the same problem with my new 2955RL. Throughout the entire rig. Best diagnosis was adhesive used in manufacturing seeping through the seams and nail holes. Took back to dealer and they cleaned up, so must be a somewhat common problem.

I also showed the stains to Arum at the rally and he said it could be from the sealer they use to fill in the staple holes after installing the ceiling. At the service centre Darrell gave me a can of Max Clean,it is a all purpose foam cleaner made by Cyclo. Have not tried it yet but will see how it works when we hit Florida.

You might try a cotton ball saturated with hydrogen peroxide on the stains. We used to use this procedure on stains in our mobile home with great results.

Have the same discoloured putty marks. They are hardly noticeable now but I supposed they will deepen as the putty ages. Must try the peroxide this spring when we open up for the season.

When I saw the subject I was wondering what you had been doing on the ceiling, guess I was reading something into it. Good luck on the cleanup, I just used a damp white cotton wash cloth and liquid Ivory, clean walls, ceiling, etc., 2 years occupied and still looks new.

I have scrubbed and scrubbed for just less than a year now wiht no luck on getting the glue off the ceiling. I have two weeks left on warranty so I am going to see if my local dealer can help. I don't have time to mess with it.

Carol explained well what we found. We had the problem in our 2003 (let me tell you, those stripes are hard to remove, too). It is from condensation picking up smoke particles (or possibly other particles). We then tried "smokeless" candles but, those, too, tend to smoke. So, like Carol said, we now use a candle warmer. No more problem.

Also, the problem was on our 2003, which had aluminum trusses. This 2007 uses steel. I'm not sure if the problem would also exist with the steel trusses or not.
