Can I pull this ???
Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum, and have to say looks like there are alot of great people on here, and that have alot of great info.
I am looking at a Montana 2850RK with a dry weight of 8398 lbs.I have an 05 chevy 2500HD 6.0 Liter with 4:10 gears (gaser).I know I am close on my weight, but seeing what you guys think, or if anyone has the same combo. Have had a TT before but this would be my first 5er.
Any feedback would be great.

Welcome to the forum, Brad. If you don't need to be the first to the top of the hill, you should be ok with this. We have similar trucks and we have been doing fine. This is our 2nd Montana that we have pulled with ours. I would like a diesel or V-10 but, until I can afford it, this one will do fine.

It sounds like you already own this truck. If so, It will do until you decide you want something different. If you are asking about buying that vehicle to do the job, it will probably do it, but there are better choices out there.

I don't know how heavy your last trailer was, but my last truck had your drivetrain before I traded up for the diesel earlier this year.
I currently have a 35 ft trailer and my gross is close to 10k...that 6.0 liter pulled it for over two years. It struggled when it came to hills, flat land it was ok, but I wouldn't take it towing into the mountains.

You might want to check the GCWR. For your truck it is 16,000...if the truck is at GW (9200) that leaves only 6800 for the trailer. Therefore if 2500 is pin weight, the total trailer weight could be only 9300 (6800 + 2500).
Looks like if you loaded light you'd be okay...about 1000 worth of cargo.
