My F350 did not come with the upfitter switches for some reason beyond me, so I was going to retrofit them myself. I even ordered them. When they got to the dealer parts department, no one on staff could tell me how to install the harness and the switches.

The short of it all, was that I don't have them. I won't buy them without information regarding installation. Rich, they showed me these pages you posted and some more, but......

The prints do not show how to INSTALL the switchs or the harness. would guess that would be quite a task but you would think the dealership would know????

Stiles, your dealer (or another Ford dealer) can find out quickly how to install the system, get a firm price from them and have them do it. Because of the tight conditions under the dash and hood, I wouldn't even try the harness. It has relays, fuse connections, the switch bank and the harness.
It's nice to have. Oh, have them hook up the feed through wires from under the dash by the parking brake handle up into the front engine compartment, there are 4.
Good luck. Ozz

That was my point. I WAS at a dealership. I was holding the parts in my hand. I had them priced at wholesale, i.e., $150 (regular $225). But no one at the dealership or the parts and service dept knew how to put them in. That part of their service manual had not come in.

The guy at the dealership did an online search of the Ford serve database. I saw where the connections were (pictures and diagrams) and minimal instructions, but they didn't want to do the job. I think this was their first request for retrofitting and they had not yet been trained.

I tried to have the Dealer install them on my 06 at the time of purchase, and was told back then by the parts department that they had never installed them successfully and would never try without better direction from Ford.

Sounds like Ozz actually coaxed them into getting off the chair and figuring it out! But then again, we are talking about a man that just took a chainsaw and axe to his Monty!

Ha! You know, I might have had that chainsaw with me when I visited the dealership.... maybe that's why I got good treatment.
I had them on my Ford when I bought it, I went to the dealership to find where the darn Blunt ends FROM the upfitter switches was, the service manager couldn't find them, he got the "Best mechanic", he looked, couldn't find them, went into the computer, still couldn't find them, then he displayed the qualities that earned him the "Best mechanic" title and found them. They were Taped to a wiring harness wayyyy up on top up from the parking brake under the dash. I haven't had to get into that position in a vehicle, since the high school prom....
I had to connect to them and tie into the 4 feed through wires into the engine compartment, haven't walked right since.

I was told by the service manager that until this year (2008) there was no retrofit parts available for the upfitter switches. If you didn't get them from the factory, you didn't get them.

You could install a fuse, relay and switch, in that case to run your add-on accessories. (The old fashion way.)

That print is no help at all for the 08 truck.. I did find them thanks to OZZ however we needed the jaws of life to extract me from under the dash.

Some time ago I found a 20 page article that showed in detail how to install these switches. I can not find the article again but the author is Richard Ray and his email address is richardray@cox.net. You may try contacting him to see if he will send you these instructions. If not let me know and I will scan them and send these to you.
