Dodge Mega Cab

I need information / suggestions on what fifth wheel hitch will work the best on a 2006 Dodge Mega Cab pickup. My trailer is a 2002 30' Mounteer. I am looking at the pullrite superglide.

Richard,

I don't have one of those hitches but when I get my next truck I will. I know everyone that has one loves them and wouldn't be without one on a shortbed. I have a slider, but it's a manual Reese and I only have an extended cab.

Someone will be around who owns a Superglide soon.

I test drove the 2006 Megacab. The wife remarked that she almost didn't need the Montana, just sleep right in the back seat of the truck. You could almost haul cattle in there. It is huge.

I thought I was getting a shortbed for the longest time - ended up with a long bed. I REALLY wanted a SuperGlide badly. Now I can get by much cheaper... The Superglide will be shown as the slider hitch of choice, I believe, on this forum. You will need a MegaWallet, though...

Richard, congrats on that Mega Cab. We drove a Mega Cab and as Dave said it was HUGE inside. My wife REALLY likes the new short box mega dually styled truck. After many, many, many chevys and test driving that Dodge product I must say that neither one of us found anything about the dodge that we didn't like. So much for the truck wars. Anyway, what are the specs on your truck? We have definately decided on the Cummins with an the automatic 48RE tranny and I am leaning towards the 4:10 over the 3:73 rear end.

I have the Super Glide in my shortbed and really like it. Don't have to think about my 5er hitting the cab. I just keep it greesed and it has not failed me yet.

Richard,
My suggestion would be the Superglide. The Superglide slides back 14" to help clear the cab vs. Reese hitches which only slides back 8 or 10" I believe. I would measure your bed (from the center of the rear axle to the back of the window). This measurement will help you determine which, if any will give you the needed clearance for your coach.

Richard, I'd agree with Dave on this 100%. That MegaCab is a beautiful truck, but all that room in the back seat area (limo-sized area) is gained by sacrificing the bed length noticeably on that vehicle. The hitch that will get you the most distance, in inches, on the slide back will be absolutely necessary.

I think it is only a matter of time before Dodge matches the bed to the cab and comes out with an 8 foot box to compete with GMC and Ford that have both had Crew Cabs for years that give you a choice in bed lengths.
