Satellite dish recommendations

Hi all I need some input on mounted satellite dishes.
My wineguard traveler took a dive and cant get it fixed because they don’t have parts because it over 5years old, and they don’t work on them anymore.
The newer traveler pro are now suppose to be on site serviceable where previous models you would have to send whole unit to them to be fixed.
I’m in a toss up as to buy a RFmogal or stick with wineguard traveler .
What are your pros and con of those who own either one of these.
Thanks for your input Dan

We've had three Travelers on three different rigs and still own two of them. We've never had an issue with them so we would stay with them. Your experience has been different, but you're the first I've heard of that had to junk one.

Dan I have no knowledge of the “newer” Travlers however the one we had gave me the impression that the design just wasn’t right. The motor failed, it cost me $300 in shipping to send it to Iowa for repair. I must have gone through 3 of the proprietary LNB cables. I wound up carrying a spare. The LNB terminals were prone to rusting. I have been very happy with the RF Mogul to date. I can’t foresee a reason that I would have to ship the rooftop unit back for service and from my research besides being field repairable the end user can apply firmware updates.

Forgot to add initially the customer service at Winegard was very disappointing. They did get better after one of their employees found a post I made on an online forum. When I called RF Mogul to ask about a self install the CEO called me back.

I bought the RF Mogul after watching others shipping their Winegards off at their expense and time. When I had a problem with my RF Mogul I had a local guy fix it at my spot. The RF Mogul guy here in Quartzsite was out to the Circle last week to help my neighbor. Plus the support folks at the mother-ship will talk to you on the phone to help. I like their service and support plus mine was cheaper than the Traveler.

Derek the people I talked to said they put a stronger motor in them and are makings it so you don’t have to send it back for repairs like the older models. There suppose to be able to be repaired in the field.

As far as there customer service I wasn’t impressed they basically told me since mine was too old I was out of luck .
