Home Solar System Install Numbers

My friend and neighbor had a Generac solar system installed that has been powering his entire home this summer in Florida. I have been waiting for summer to report the outcome with 24/7 air conditioning use. This bodes well for RV systems.

18 panels at 365 watts each for 6570 watts, roof mounted

1 battery box in a wall mounted rack.

1 inverter/charger wall mount box

1 Two way meter

Cost = $24,000 less 27% tax credit

July in Florida usage

Batteries never went below 50%

Full charge achieved every day (and we had rain)

Never used metered power from FPL

Sold FPL 82% of energy not stored during the daytime, leaving much unused and unsold power every day.

These numbers translate well to a Montana since his electricity usage and mine in the RV full time are about the same. He has too many panels and is producing too much power. Same for the batteries he has twice what he needs and never used the line power at all. I am thinking 10 panels at 365 watts each and half of his battery capacity would work for us.

Cut down that 10 panels to 8 by using stronger panels.

I literally typed and erased that from my post. You sir are a genius. We can run everything on solar if we choose to, and every year it gets better and cheaper.
