Tire Minder

What are your thoughts on Tire Minders? Is that the best brand of tire sensors? Do they work well and can they sense a blowout is about to happen?

The best in my opinion is TST 507. Mark Benson the sales manager of the company is a member here and will answer questions here. He also provides his phone number. Customer service is outstanding. Every system is designed to provide updated psi and temp on individual tires. None will notify you of a potential catastrophic blowout. However, a loss of pressure and/or heat build up may occur prior.

I agree on everything said about the 507's. That said any sensor can only alert you to loss of air or excessive heat. Tread separation and things of that sort can still happen without any warning. I still wouldn't ever travel without them.

We have had both the pressure pro and now the TST over the last 12 years not familiar with the tire minder but they all work pretty much the same.

The TPMS can not warn of a blowout(a sudden and catastrophic failure) Boom and it is gone as DQDick states it will warn of a loss of psi that will eventually lead to a catastrophic failure. We also will not be on the road without a TPMS.

Just installed the TST 507. Very easy install and very accurate.

Just got back from a 2 week 2100 mile trip with my newly installed tst507 and it worked perfectly. It is amazing to watch how the temp/pressure reacts to sun on the tires/speed you are traveling/time you have been towing/blacktop or concrete road etc.

Mine however reads 2-3 psi lower than what I had the tire pressure set to. No big deal though.

Tire Minder

I have used Tire Minder TPMS system for years and thousands of miles. It has saved me from being caught on the freeway with a flat because it gave me a low pressure warning as I left an RV Park. I was made aware that I had run over a nail in the campsite before I hit the road. Great to have and easy to use.
I get free battery replacements and they gave me a really nice tire gauge as part of the deal.

There is absolutely no doubt that any TPMS is better than non at all. In all my years of camping I have never seen anyone check there air pressures before leaving there camp site. They may check them before the trip but not during or on the way home.

Easy to check ~ just look at the TST 507 monitor before pulling out.

A search will find it with non flow through sensors from around $225 to $260. A new larger color monitor will be coming out soon. I have one and like it better than the gray monitor but both do the same thing. It will be an option. You will not find any company with better or even as good customer service anywhere. Mike Benson the sales manager posts here at times. He provides his contact information too.

I purchased the TireMinder Smart TPMS. What I like about it is that I run the app on my smartphone so I don't have another monitor hanging somewhere on my dash. It will run in the background in case you are playing music or whatever. It is easy to hook-up and pretty much has all features the other products do. I must admit I've only used once. I did have a problem with the install, sent an email to minderresearch and no one ever contacted me. I figured-out the problem but I question what kind of help one will receive.

I prefer to have the monitor where either I or wifey can glance at it. Only need to see if one tire is way out of range of the others. No need to keep it on the dash or look at it as the alarms are easily heard. CS at TST is beyond reproach. I called when setting up the new monitor yesterday and was told what to try. I thanked Jim and said I'd call back if there was still a problem. He said he would stay on the line with me as it would only take 3 or 4 minutes and he wanted to be certain all was working as it should, it was. Just changed to the new color monitor and will have it on the road in 3 days....

Have had the TST 507 for about 2 years now. Put it on when put on the new Sailuns. Pressure usually shows a few lbs under what the guage shows. Since I never have had any other, have nothing to compare to but this works fine.
