Slide runner

I was wondering if anyone has cleaned the runner that slides on the carpet. Since we live in the great rainy NW we can have problems with green slime aka moss. We are getting tired of cleaning this area of the carpet all the time. Any ideas?

I don't have any "runners" on my slides, but I do clean the bottom of the slides from time to time as that is what slides on my carpet full length of each slide save the bedroom. I do use Slide-Out Slickers at each end of the main slide ... its not much more than a 6" wide piece of plastic that reduces wear on the carpet especially at each end of the slides.

Lippert sells pieces of plastic for that, but I don't see why you couldn't make your own.

I will have to look into that idea. Only problem I would be worried is the plastic turning sideways and getting jammed under the lip of the slide.

I went to an office supply store and purchased a plyable office chair mat, and cut it into 8 in strips, works well to help protect the carpet.

I ordered Slide out Slickers from Amazon last night so they should be here in a couple of days. But today I was out looking closer at the bottom of my slides on the inside of the Montana at which time I see the slide is wearing on the nylon strip that is used as a wear plate across the floor. The strip has a good sized gouge in it at the corner that causes my slide to bind up for a second when I try to run them in. I was wonder if anyone has had this problem and come up with a fix?

Do you have a screw loose? On the bottom of the slideout I mean

Charlie, Good thing you said on the bottom of slide!! I was going to try look a little closer tomorrow and see if it is a screw. If there is it is about impossible to get at to tighten.

I don't know if it was the way I installed the "Slide Slickers" or if it's just the way that they are made but on the main slide I got black tire "dust" on the carpet over the tire area just in front of and behind the slide (did any of that make sense?). I think the Slicker created an opening that allowed some road grime. Like I said, maybe it was the way I installed them but in any event, I have stopped using them.

Flymutt ... they just lie on top of carpet with the logo side up preferably towards the ends of the slides, but not past the ends. I've used the "Slickers" on two separate Montanas with good results expecially as far as reducing the frayed and mashed down look of the carpet. If you have excessive tire dust ... perhaps your axles are out of alignment. Are your tires wearing abnormally?

dieselguy...The tires seem to be wearing o.k. I may have placed these too near the ends of the slide or pushed them too far under the slide out "lip"? On occaision, they have bound up in the slide and were almost impossible to remove after opening the slide. I have a large area rug that I put down when the slides are open so the slide track impressions don't bother me much anymore.

Sounds like they were too far under there.
