New Reality
Well we are back in the PNW following our mad dash across country from the rally in Goshen to southwestern Idaho to pickup some new toys. I figured I would put this out there in case anyone else is looking to accomplish something similar. I took a very close look at another tote brand that was available at the national rally and the differences are demonstrative. While there is a considerable price difference the construction is night and day. I would say you owe it to yourself to look at all the alternatives.
So here is our new reality of overall length and a little more tail swing to be aware of. After driving back through the Cascade mountain passes I was pretty impressed at how the tow went overall. The optics of the tote movement via the rear observation camera will take some getting use to.
Let the riding begin.

I kept it simple. I just double tow. It was easy to strength the factory 2" receiver hitch, add a chain loop and wiring. I'm at ~75' overall length when I'm shagging the mess around. It is smooth and there is no sway. I watch the rear trailer with the rear view camera. I know OR and WA don't permit double towing (except the commercial double/triples vehicles on interstates) so the tote as an extension of the main trailer somehow navigates around the law there.

You are correct the tote is not considered double towing by law as it has two connection points versus a pivot point and therefore does not meet the 49 states definitions within their towing laws. I do not know about Hawaii as I have no intention on taking my rig there. I also added quite a bit of frame reinforcement. I am probably close to your overall length though I have not measured yet. I am legal everywhere I intend to go EXCEPT BC, Canada.

No they are not sorry. But I may be upgrading my electrical system in which case I may have a Magnum msh-3012 and Midnite Solar Classic 150 for sale. Someone would get a very good package in perfect working order.

I've only double towed in NV, CA, ID, and MT. No issues in those states.

I don't think you will have any issues for the most part except on the coasts
