Montana Travel Trailer
We were in the Smithfirld, NC KOA this weekend and saw a Montana travel trailer. I thought Montana only made 5th wheels.

oldudbob,
Montana has made TT for years. Some are branded as Montana, some as Mountaineer by Montana, some as Mountaineer and the latest is Montana - Mountaineer Edition. We have a 2003 Mountaineer by Montana and have really enjoyed it. We have had very few problems with ours and I would recommend it to anyone.

My first rv was a 2002 Montana Mountaineer 315RLS. Mine said Montana on the front cap and side walls, had Mountaineer under the Montana logo is small letters. I think that changed in 2003 when it went to Mountaineer only. Great trailer, just too small for my needs so I "supersized". The Keystone quality overall has been very good in both of my rigs.

As you can see in our signature, we have a Montana Montaineer 315 RLS. Ours is a 2003. WE LOVE IT! When we park it in our pole building it doesn't take 3 days and we are having withdrawal symptoms! Can't wait till spring! Can't go south for the winter yet. Maybe next year.

I don't think Montana currently makes "Montana" travel trailers, only Mountaineers. I think that's right, anyhow. But they have made them in the past. We've also seen a few. As others have said, they are very nice rigs.
I have to alter my comment in light of Montana - Mountaineer Edition mentioned above.

We enjoy our Mountaineer 315RLS from Montana. So far, knock on wood we've had no real problems in our 2 seasons out with it.

I have an 05 Montana Mountaineer 335rlbs. Great trailer and haven't had any problems to speak of. Taking it to Maine for Thanksgiving... should be fun!

In the begining (1998?) there was Montana. Montanas included both TTs and 5ers. The first Montana I ever saw was a TT with aluminum sides and a moulded front. The Aluminum side was standard, fibreglass was an extra cost and weight option. There was a Montana similar to this at Pla-Mor Campground during the Great Lakes Rally. (It was not a participant, and appeared unoccupied at the time). Since then, things have changed and contiue to change, but currently there is no Montana travel trailer produced in the Montana plant. The Mountaineer Edition is produced in a different plant. At the GL Rally we were told that they were trying to raise the profile of the Mountaineer, and they had some prototypes of revamped Mountaineers on display. The new name, "Montana - Mountaineer Edition" seems to part of that process. Incidently we were also told that within Keystone's organizaton, The Cambridge, Montana, and Mountaineer, are all products of the "Montana Division of Keystone". (BTW the revamped Mountaineer floor plans had some interesting inovations.)

The way I remember it, Montana decided to build a new factory just for Mountaineers (which were only TTs at the time). I suppose the movement at the time was toward 5th wheels, so the Mountaineer moniker would up on a line of 5ers also coming out of the same plant. Our 200 305FKS has aluminum sides - it's in the photo page under VanMan

We also didn't realize there were Montana travel trailers, but last week we pulled into a fuel stop in Ely, NV and there was a Montana TT at another pump. Hubby spoke with the owner and learned the rig was a 2000 model.
